You know what would really help prices? Arresting and Deporting tens of thousands of undocumented Immigrants who work agricultural jobs that Americans don’t want and get paid below minimum Wage along the way. Adding on increased costs due to this Trumpenomics idiocracy with these tariffs, which we know just gets passed onto the customers - us. It’s almost like he’s just worried about the fellow billionaires or something.
Remember when Trump built that wall and Mexico paid for it? Yeah it’s kind of like that.

You do realize 100 million or so chickens have been culled due to bird flu, right? That’s a lot of supply that is gone. Eggs are not immune to a supply vs demand equilibrium and pricing.
Also there seems to be a stereotype that Trump is for billionaires. I have found credible numbers that say 83 billionaires supported Kamala and 52 billionaires supported Trump during the election.
As far as tariffs you may be referencing Canada and Mexico. I was shocked at the levels both counties tariff the US. How is that fair?
But feel free to post your own numbers on all accounts. I’m sure you did some research before sharing your opinion.

That's called sarcasm my man. The unspoken reality is that American's don't want the jobs that the undocumented immigrants work here. So when Trump Incorporated works to deport them, this will also be a factor in continuing to drive prices up. It is this strange thing that if Trump actually deports the undocumented immigrants from the agricultural sector, the states most affected are his most ardent supporters in the deep red states. My bet is that it is all optics in cities, and he does not follow through at all in the country side.
Green Mountain, the argument that Trump isn't looking out for billionaires because more billionaires supported Harris is a great deflection and misses the point. Both Trump and Harris suck my left nut and buddy up to the money class, so you're playing the wrong game there and that doesn't take away from Trump and his billionaire boys making money while stirring the pot on the culture wars which he doesn't actually care about but uses as a tool to gain votes.
The reality is that under Biden, the right blamed everything on him and assured everyone that Trump will fix it. And now under Trump, everything that has gone wrong is the fault of avian bird flu, or DEI initiatives, or Biden etc...basically everything except for leadership and taking personal accountability. Shit, why is the border a mess when Trump had four years and was elected on the promise to build the wall and make Mexico pay for it? Or do we just ignore that one?
For real, the China - US tariff wars are well known. But please share your research about how the Mexicans and Canadians have high tariffs on US imports? That is news to me, and always something new to learn.

As far as eggs from an optics perspective we are going to see all kind of examples how deporting illegals will raise prices.
One thing to consider - I saw a couple studies done for Europe showing illegals to be a net drain financially. In other words as a whole they are using more taxpayer support than what they are giving back. One can argue deporting them is a gain for the country.
Is it the same in the US? I don’t know but I do know YOU are helping to pay for illegals.
And Hedge since you seem sincerely open to it, I’ll post tariff info in a new thread.

You may have a point. One of my ex-gfs was undocumented. Every time she hopped into bed with me, she was doing a job American women refuse to do.
So... which Pittsburgh grocer has the cheapest eggs right now?

IMO Trump either gets some quick wins or he’s fine playing the long game to get some manufacturing back the US.
I predict any $ he brings in with new tariffs he will offset with income tax breaks.

You were obviously just as passionate when potato head Joe was recklessly overspending and contributing to inflation.

In the past 2 weeks one thing is abundantly clear that Kamala and Joe intentionally opened the border. Look at how the number of illelgals have dropped under Trump?
At least Biden/Kamala could have required each illegal bring a dozen or two eggs when walking across the border?
I suspect that would have helped Egg prices with the prior administration.

Biden's border numbers from June to Jan were about where they were under Trump during COVID. And that has not a damn thing to do with Trump not having a plan or even a communications strategy to address the avian flu or the cost of eggs.
The same avian flu that was in play when JV was standing in front of a case full of eggs that were $2.99 per dozen, lying about the current cost of eggs at the time and not saying a goddamn word about avian flu.

Then why didn’t Joe and border czar Kamala do that all 4 years? We know why. The open border was intentional, and there’s 93 EOs from Biden in his 1st couple months to prove it. Its not even debatable.
Plan for eggs? I suspect the plan is to get another 100 million chickens back to the mix. I’m guessing 40% would be egg laying hens, and they’ll lay an egg a day. 40 million eggs a day.
How? Idk and idc.
