Define "We". And were you live, is this some gated enclave/town/city?

Yeah, no. It’s called a pressure balancing valve, AKA temptrol or scaldguard, which have been around since the 50s and are code required in many places. If the pressure on one side reduces the valve automatically reduces the other side an equal amount, keeping the water temperature the same. If your lines aren’t well mapped or undersized the overall pressure may be reduced but the temperature will stay the same.

Backassward way of asking, why has it been noted of places where the home team made it into the Super Bowel having plumbing issues during Half Time of the game?
