Default Panamá, Greenland, Mexico, Canada?

Wouldn’t it be grand if all of North America became one country! No stinkin tariffs, on this continent anyway! And a lot fewer illegal immigrants!

A question for those who understand the mind of Trump, would he seriously consider using the military to take over Greenland and the Panama Canal? How about to take out narcotraficantes in Mexico?

He’s trolling about making Canada the 51st state. That would be stupider than giving Washington D.C. statehood if you’re a Republican. Not sure about the rest.

I figure Trump is trolling Trudeau about making Canada the 51st state. He’s been pissed off ever since Melania started making eyes at him. And that would be nuts if you’re a Republican, worse than making Washington DC a state.

But I’m not sure about the rest. Any thoughts whether Trump would seriously consider using the military to take over Greenland or the Panama Canal? How about to take out Mexican narcotraficantes, without the cooperation of the Mexican government?

Trump won't use the military to expand the country. Not even an option on the table.

When asked, Trump wouldn’t rule out using force. It’d be the first military action that made any sense in 50 years. Canada is just him trolling imo, but Panama and Greenland are both important strategic locations.

Greenland is a no go.
All of Europe would stop that.
Greenland's territorial economic zone in the artic environment is huge

I see the potential to purchase a part of Greenland and/or treaty for its defense (already covered by NATO) but one where if $ aren’t contributed by Denmark then there’s a default.

Panama Canal is on the table through the wording of the 1977 agreement. But his only goal is to secure enough land for US purposes and no fees to carriers heading to US port. Some said US flagged vessels, but there aren’t that many of those. We will not take back the canal.

Canada is not feasible unless they desire or he truly went the tariff route which would be too painful for us.

However, the option SHOULD NOT BE to allow China to gain strategic control of the Panama Canal.

I can imagine the amount of natural resources that lie under Greenland. How ever, once you get past the few “green” and habitual lands around the coastal perimeter, , it is an absolute brutal environment.
The population of the entire Island is less than 50,000. Nobody wants to live there.

The main ice sheet averages 1 mile thick.

Trump is just fucking with Canada. He knows that 90% of Canada’s population lives within 100 miles of the US Border. And that population is just a few million more than California.

Canada has the same problem as Greenland. Most of it’s land mass is practically uninhabitable.

They will all just rename themselves Ukraine and scare donny shitless (that would be a change to others who comment on his underpants) since he would not want to offend pooty.

Apologies for double posting. Good, level-headed points made by all. Except that Precious_b's idea isn't workable. Yeah, the Canadians might be able to buy balalaika's and start drinking vodka, but there's no way Panama or Mexico can pass itself off as Ukraine.

I thought tRump's #1 priority was to lower gas and grocery prices? How is any of this gonna do that?

Well, Alberta produces over 4 million barrels of oil per day, along with lots of beef. Ontario is a big producer of wheat, corn and soybeans.

Wouldn't that help with gas and groceries?

Actually China is making a big play to expand their influence and power around the globe, and gain economic advantages from grabbing more resources like rare metal earth minerals which Greenland has a lot of.

This is the opposite of Biden getting rich from Chinese companies at putting the United States and greater economic disadvantage.
