Please make up your mind.
I never said his *economic* policies led to the loss.

And please stop trying to hijack this thread. The subject is trump not understanding, or lying about, the effects of his dumbass tariffs.

It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard.

C'mon MAGA. Trump is saying just the other day that it's very hard to lower the price of groceries, right after running on the promise of lowering groceries! What's wrong? Diapers giving you a wedgie or something lol?

Funny thing happens when all you do is lie, especially if you have millions of morons who believe your lies... eventually, everyone will see that you're full of shit.

You can't outrun the truth forever. Every cult, one way or another, eventually gets smacked with a dose of reality. MAGA will be getting that dose soon enough.

They'd actually have been better off if trump had lost. They could have just lived in their warped fantasy world of "what could have been", if only trump had won, for the rest of their lives.

Instead, now they're going to get that dose of reality. Soon enough, deep down, they'll have to admit (at least to themselves) that they got conned.

But at least he's going to deport half the US workforce... that ought to be worth paying a few dollars more at the store...

There won't be anything in the store to buy, because all the locally grown food will be rotting the fields now that we don't have those immigrants working for pennies to pick produce. And other goods, well, they won't be available to buy either, because, when was the last time you bought something that didn't say 'made in china'?

PSA for those who slept through class:
A 25% tariff on our 3 largest trading partners will not lower the prices of anything. And none of those countries will be "rolling over".

You'll see soon enough. Like I said, it would have been better for you if trump had lost - at least you would've had your Fantasy Land stories about "what could have been" had he won.

Instead, you'll be getting a big, fat dose of reality, and even higher prices than you have now, specifically because he won. Buckle up.

Default For All You Faux Economists

"... he's going to deport half the US work force..."

"There won't be anything in the store to buy..."

"Buckle up."

Funny thing is - you guys look so deranged in your habitual resort to exaggeration and hyperbole that you actually make Trump sound reasonable and believable by comparison.

Let's look at the facts - During trump's first term, he imposed tariffs on imports from China and other countries. Yet inflation remained low at around 1-2% annually.

His current tariff proposals are stiffer and more sweeping. But even the Forbes article cited by the OP in the opening post of this thread (relying on economists at Bank of America and Goldman Sachs) estimates those proposals will only bump up inflation by between 0.3 and 0.4 percentage points a year.

In November, the CPI was 2.7% higher than a year ago. So if the Forbes/BoA/Goldman estimates are right, trump's proposals would raise inflation to 3.1% or so. That's not good, but it's not the same shock to the economy that Biden Democrats inflicted on consumers when their out-of-control spending combined with their anti-carbon fuels policies sent prices spiraling upward at an annual rate of over 9% by the middle of 2022!

I would be happy to bet anyone here that going forward, annual inflation under trump (12-month CPI increase) will never get anywhere near that 9% level, tariffs or no tariffs.

Who's ready to step up and take that bet? tommy?

Lol. Nobody's claiming inflation will be approaching pandemic numbers, you know, unless there's another pandemic by then.

What I am saying, along with every single economist who isn't paid to tell lies is saying, is that grocery prices will not be coming down any time soon - as trump promised.

You may have noticed he's already backpedaling on that promise (because it was all bullshit to begin with - he just kept saying it to convince dumb people to vote for him).

To quote the only expert you care about, because it's Very Hard

Just don't hold him responsible for it... unless it does come down. Then he did it. He did the fuck out of it. Bigly. But if they're up they're up. He never promised to bring that simple word down.

But, but, but... a year ago you were promising the same thing, tommy. Of course, back then you were defending Sleepy Joe's horrendous inflation record. Why did you lie to us, tommy? Why didn't prices come down as you promised?

"Prices will be coming back down, to mirror inflation. There's always a lag with these things. The prices being bandied about here are from the 8-9% inflation days. Two or three months from now, they will be lower."

Please explain how it's possible that they WILL be coming down. Betcha can't.

And no, "because trump promised to lower prices" is not an acceptable answer.
