Did anyone listen to the arguments to the S C concerning the unconstitutional Colorado decision?

I thought before the arguments that the Supremes would KO this ant American decision.

Now I know for a fact, Down goes Liberal Colorado,DOWN GOES LIBERAL COLORADO!!

It sounded that even the majority of Democrat appointed Justices knew the Colorado decision was pure unfiltered BULLSHIT

Any thoughts?

I did hear part of it. It didn't sound like it was going the states way , towards Colorado. But states need to be able to determine who and how they run elections. It did sound like they were not concerned with the "what" happened on Jan 6th, but rather saying that the amendment needs for a person to be charged with insurrection vs. assume it's insurrection.

I think they'll rule in Trump's favor, ultimately on the basis of the amendment being NOT self executing.

From the SCOTUS blog, their take was that the country (as represented by the court) is afraid of the logistics.

Colorado Solicitor General Shannon Stevenson, arguing on behalf of Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, tried to allay some of the justices’ fears. She told the court that disparities between the ballots in different states are a feature, rather than a bug, of the democratic process, and she urged the justices to allow the process to play out even if it becomes messy. “Congress,” she stressed, “can act at any time if it thinks” the process has truly “run amok.”

And Stevenson downplayed the possibility of retaliation against Democratic candidates if the court were to uphold the state court’s decision, arguing that “we have to have faith in our system” and in the “institutions in place to handle those types of allegations.”

But after more than two hours of argument, the justices appeared uninclined to agree with Stevenson and leave the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision in place.

There is no way to know when the justices will issue their decision. The Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling is currently on hold, so Trump will remain on the ballot there unless the justices decide otherwise, but the court is nonetheless likely to act relatively quickly to resolve the issue because of its significance for other states where challenges to his eligibility are pending.

As much as I dislike Trump and his politics I expected the court to be skeptical of the Colorado ruling. Not because Trump is innocent of the charges of insurrection but because they didn’t want each state to take it into account and start disallowing candidates based on their own biased views of what constitutes insurrection.

Because the republican senate failed to impeach Trump when they had the chance it now goes to the voters. And when Trump loses again I expect calls for revolution to put him back in power. More lies about a stolen election. Just wait and see.

This Conservative court is scared. As expected from the Right.

Considering the 14th amendment was passed just 3 years after the civil war I expect that they might have seen worse.

I didn,t get to hear the arguments, but many of the folks who did say they expect a 9-0 decision against Colorado.
