This is about getting people on the voter rolls, not getting them to vote. Votes are meaningless, it’s only ballots that matter.
It should be harder to vote, not easier. A short civics quiz should be given at the door. If one doesn’t understand the basic framework and function of the US government they should be nowhere near a ballot box. Also, if you’re on government assistance, you’re out too.
Bread and circuses' is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader.

Be careful what you wish for. This would easily disqualify at least half of trump's base. And nobody in his clown car of a campaign staff, including trump himself, has even the faintest clue about the "basic framework and function of the US government".

Hell, you would disqualify over half the deaf, dumb and blind leftists in the USA with these rules
First we know there are a large group of leftists in the country that are so fucking stupid and ill informed with their heads buried up their ass that they could never pass a basic civics quiz
Second, we know there are also a large group of leftists who are freeloaders on government assistance whether it is welfare, food stamps, Obamacare, etc. They are leaches on society

How long will it take to get them off the voter roles after they die?

I sense much fear in you when it comes to letting the true will of the people be known.
Much fear indeed.
I don't think you'll find support at the Supreme Court

That’s not the case, fear is the wrong word unless you mean fear of the direction of the country. In that you’re correct, I have no desire to live in an idiocracy.
Look at it like this: You own a multi billion dollar company. Do you want people who know absolutely nothing about the business to have a seat on the board and a voice in decisions that effect your livelihood and those of your employees and their families? Of course you wouldn’t, yet you advocate for exactly that by wanting idiots to vote.

It's very much the case and absolutely the right word. You're in favor of voter suppression, not the will of the people.

Yes, I’m absolutely pro voter suppression. Where we disagree is if that’s a bad thing, I do not think it is. Everyone is better off when competent people are the ones making decisions.
You didn’t answer the question though.

Reading through this thread it’s like that spiderman meme, each pointing to the others and asking who’s real. Who’s really suppressing votes? Southern states like Texas and Florida who prevented judicial interventions in voting procedure during the pandemic? Or northern states like PA, with their mass registrations and mail in balloting? This is the trouble today, no one can agree on the truth, so discourse becomes impossible. Just mudslinging and name calling. If this were a marriage, I’d say it’s past time for a divorce.
Anyway, America is a republic, not a democracy, and the founders had quite a different idea concerning who should vote and why. That should be enough.

It blends democracy with a republic, because those terms were basically the same thing at the time.

I’m with the founders, less the racial component. Men who own property can vote, everyone else gtfo.

The only 'test' for voting is citizenship. I am really no longer in favor of felony conviction disqualification though I support restricting voting rights for those incarcerated at ballot time. On the issue of illegals it should not even be a discussion. Just no.
More legit votes = more representation. We the people. All day.
Still not feeling good about automatic registration. We live in a world where too many fingers have access to shit they should not have whether virtually or in person. The task of removing deceased voters off the books is already difficult enough without just adding everyone and hoping for the best.

Wait.
So, you get registered when you apply for a license, correct?
And, didn't large swaths of certain people claim that having to show ID is racist because they can't get out to get an ID, like a drivers license to show at the polls.
So, who exactly is going to be registered to vote, surely, no certain groups, because we already know its racist to make them get ID, so, only the rich, white, and affluent will be registered because those certain groups can't get the license, and be automagically registered to vote.
BUT, if they are able to get a license and register, why not present them to vote with?
On one hand, the poor are too stupid to get an ID, but, when they do get an ID, they can then automagically be able to vote, but not with an ID, because we were told they can't get one.
