Whom suffered dearly for this country, a highly decorated Naval Airman that after being shot down and captured with two broken arms and a broken leg turned down early release by the North Vietnamese offered to him because his father was CINCPAC and because his father was CINCPAC "Commander in Chief Pacific Command".
Of course it would have been a tremendous propaganda coup for NV had he accepted. He told them that he would only accept when that offer was made to all Americans in captivity. And subsequently spent the next five and a half years in captivity and torture!

Anyone who spends as much time in Washington as McCain did is corrupt on some level. Some people will stay in their feelings about him off the Trump head butting. Trump paid a political price for that as well.

Obama was riding a wave and would have been tough in that moment for any Republican to beat but McCain stumbled enough along the way to take most of the blame for not getting closer to the White House. I think he would have done better than Dubya but it was not meant to be.
