Psst...
Respectfully-- a person making 50k/year will shell out approximately 75 cents out of every paycheck for welfare and entitlements. Most of your taxes goes towards corporate welfare, not personal.
I currently live in Cincinnati, which currently "boasts" a murder rate per capita higher than Chicago. Pandemic turned this city upside down.
As to everything else---
I don't mind winter. I know that moving to the Roc is going to take me back to the land of lake effect snow (I lived in Cleveland for a bit when I was younger).
Ed-- "close to Connecticut" isn't likely unless I end up slotted in Atlantic City or NYC. I wouldn't mind Atlantic City-- cost of living is actually comparable to here-- NYC would be great except-- where in the hell would I afford to live? LOL. They'd have to double my salary for me to keep the same lifestyle.. and I'm not even sure if that would suffice, that's just what the calculators tell me. I know I'd get a chunkier raise if I ended up in NYC but-- I don't think it'll be chunky enough. From what I've been told by others--if I move to Roc.. I'll be in the 85k-95k band. I "think" NYC would put me around 110-- it just wouldn't be enough, I don't think. And while I could certainly entertain a gentleman or two-- my work doesn't afford me the time for that like I used to have.
I really do appreciate all the tidbits, tips, etc I've been getting both publicly and privately--but could we please not turn this into a political debate? I know the implications of moving to a state that is either Red or Blue.
