You don’t have the slightest clue what you’re talking about. John would absolutely NOT be shot in that scenario unless he was brandishing a weapon, unless the cop wanted to spend the rest of his life in jail. You’re happy that John got shot because you don’t like his politics, but that has no bearing on law enforcement procedure.

You are saying that in the heat of the moment, you wouldn't feel like your life is in line? That is what happened in the case here. He told them to step back, they did not, it was one man vs a mob, and he did what came to him.

How someone “feels” doesn’t matter, nor was it one guy vs a mob. Where do you even come up with these fairytales? There were guns all over that room. Nobody was in imminent danger, certainly not the guys who were armed. She could have easily been cuffed, as the other guys in the room obviously knew since he was the only one who opened fire.

There are certain rules of engagement (called something else in cop vernacular), if he couldn’t follow them he has no business being a cop. In the Middle East even a guy with a Kalashnikov slung over his shoulder, who was a known combatant, wasn’t a good target unless he unslung it and pointed it at you. Stupid stuff, but the rules are the rules. Follow them or spend the rest of your life behind bars.
