I have a friend who will always "Remember the Alamo".
He was parked next to the main building/gift shop. They smashed out his rear passenger window and stole his brief case that had his "world" inside it. All financial records, passport, mortgage, $1500 in cash, extra keys, sim cards, everything we told him too many times to remember to leave at home.

To his credit he hasn't done it since

A few things.

1 Converters don't "suck" exhaust gasses out of the engine. As the engine runs, it produces exhaust. If a converter is removed and not replaced, you get exhaust gasses building up where the converters were at. If converters are removed and replaced with a pipe, the gas goes out the tail pipe as intended.
Note: Many cons and very few pros to removing cats. Removing any exhaust system components causes a leak unless something replaces that physical space (like a piece of pipe welded in its place) and system leak tested by knowledgeable (pro) person.

2 Removing the platinum, rhodium, and palladium is a very difficult job requiring special equipment and chemical compounds along with specialized knowledge of the procedure needed to break the chemical bond.

3 Painting or etching VIN will help catch the neighbor kid or another armature. Pros have a salvage yard that doesn't care where the cat came from. You don't shop them around after you have them. You steal them after you have a place to sell them.

4 Thieves ?(make that "ring leaders") need a cash business to launder their ill gotten gains. No one will notice extra cats (very easy to hide in a scrap yard).

And yes, no cat is hard on the engine and the environment. And it has nothing to do with the political party in charge. It is a nation wide problem....in red and blue cities and states.

Seems to be mainly houston, Galveston cracking down and outside towns have prosecutors that will crack down.

I like many lost mine, maybe they dont want the crappy cheap ones I got on now? I had to get some o2 extender to pass a engine light check to register the car. What a pain.

In the same parking lot was another guy in a tundra, i asked him what the sound was, he said, the CATS, I asked how he knew so fast and he replied this was his SECOND time this week this happened and he had just got his truck out of the shop the day before. Damn.

Justice.

What happened is the "Hood" came to a target rich environment. Look at all the robberies that happen in and around the Galleria.

try this website www.spotcrime.com you can see what crimes have been reported near you or in certain areas.. there are other sites so might be a good idea to google "crimes near me" type searches to see what areas you may or may not want to be in at certain types or just avoid all the time.

Unfortunately, this has become very common in houston, especially in the inner loop area. I rarely see cops on patrol nowadays.

As our country continues to fall into the abyss, theft of all kinds will only increase. Coming to your home next. Thanks you Lovelyxxxo for the education !
