Default Does Violence in Entertainment Influence People to do Violent Things?

There has long been a discussion of whether or not entertainment outlets such as movies, music video games ans so on, actually influence people to engage in anti-social behavior.

The liberal-left movie and music industry have long said "no" to this idea.

But now, the liberal-left is choosing to peruse just the opposite proposition in suing firearms manufacturers on the grounds that they market their guns to young people through violent video games.

A similar argument was successfully used a few years ago in an East Coast case that I cannot just now recall . . .the state of Connecticut or Massachusetts maybe.

So which is it? Do lyrics, movies and video games influence folks to do bad things with guns or not?

Talk about opening up a can of worms.

Do fast food advertising cause obesity?
Do fancy automobile ads touting “zero to 60” times contribute to auto fatalities.?
Does watching violent movies where women are raped compel men to rape women?
Do violent video games contribute to mass shootings by young men.
Do violent Rap Lyrics cause young Black Men to walk up to a 75 year old and cold cocking?
Did watching “Smokey and the Bandit” compel people to attempt to jump over a washed out bridge in a Trans Am?
You could go on and on.

One thing for sure. The Lawyers are going to love it.

Worms indeed.

But lets keep it to the topic of violence for now. . . .with or without guns.

So it was Connecticut vs Remmington over advertising and marketing; thanks for reminding me. Now another gun manufacturer is being sued over marketing via inclusion of their gun in violent video games. That is the theory anyway.

But apparently, art in the form of hip-hop and rap music don't influence folks into drive-by shootings and abusive misogyny.

Well it could be that all those "Fast and Furious" movies contributed to street racing. But again: back to violence.

Yeah, wonder where the Knock-Out game came from.
