Back in the days when some Australians sailed over
and discovered America, they brought some shinny sticks
with them... "Shinny" is a good game created by the
Aborigine lads - somewhat like Canadian "hockey".
The shinny sticks are also used to move the camels
about when living in the outback.
So the Australians surely taught this game to the
Indi-- uh, Native Americans living here, and then
the Norsemen came down from Canada and the changed
the name to hockey.
So IF the Canadians got hockey sticks - they surely
owe it all to Australia! ...
Funny thing, though... When I explain to Bambino
and his Penguin mates that Australians actually
discovered hockey - they tell me I'm full of shit.
But then that Doubleday bloke surely invented
the game of Baseball. ... "America's Pastime"...
Reckon that I did hear once that Mr. Doubleday
might be Australian on this Mum's side... just sayin' ...
