Correct. Peduto knew this bridge was deteriorating in 2018. At the very least, he should have closed the bridge until repairs could be made.

Fact:

The Trump administration failed to pass an infrastructure bill, even though they attempted to.

The Biden administration passed an infrastructure bill.

But that's not even the best part. The best part is Trump whining on the sidelines. He even came out with a statement (paraphrased).

"Who knows better about infrastructure than me ? I have been in real estate all my life. If anyone is qualified to sign an infrastructure bill, it is me. I should have been the President to sign the bill."

And that would have saved this bridge?

FACT, Obama didn’t pass an infrastructure bill either. He had 8yrs to do it. Now rung along VM. This bridge has nothing to do with Trump. It’s on the local government.

Let's get the facts straight:

The Trump administration failed to pass an infrastructure bill.

The Biden administration passed an infrastructure bill.

As Salty is a qualified, rational member of ECCIE, living in Pittsburgh (although Australian, and possibly not an expert on bridges and infrastructure) he should have the last say on this thread.

What infrastructure bill did Trump try to pass? The wall, right?

What else?

Obstructionism is the GOPs legacy.

But none of the things you just said are "REAL FACTS!" They're just the ridiculous shit that you believe. That's not a fact, it's just your fantasy and misdirected inferiority complex shining through.

... Hmmmmm... Hmmmmm... Well, ... lemme say THIS.

ALL politicians wanna pass a solid Infrastructure bill.
The dems and RINO Repubs surely gave President Trump
a hard time - and wanted to piss-around on this issue.
Biden - to this point - may get his passed - but the
critics say his plan doesn't give much money $$$$
to improve roads and bridges.

They all need to go back to the drawing board.

(I'm Salty - and I surely approve of this message)

The infrastructure bill included $108 billion in new funding for mass transit. Mass transit is a Democratic Party priority because it's supposed to be green. And quite a few Republican Congressmen like it too, if it enables them to wheedle some money for their districts.

Years ago President Obama and a Democratic Congress legislated funding for mass transit, and my city got its fair share. Unfortunately the money could only be spent on buses. And the way things work around here, mass transit really isn't functional. Everybody has a car, and things are so spread out buses don't make sense.

No matter, we bought big buses. And they chugged around town but didn't carry passengers. Or once in a while you'd see one or two people on the bus, besides the driver.

Our federal government in its omniscience, by providing mass transit in our city, increased carbon emissions, over what they would be otherwise. And wasted a whole lot of money.

So, my question, why the hell should the federal government take money from taxpayers all over the country, and then dole it out for things like bridges in Pittsburgh? How much money is going to get wasted when you do that, when you have politicians all over the country vying for pork and federal bureaucrats deciding how the money should be spent? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to let the city of Pittsburgh or the state of Pennsylvania raise the money and spend it?

The buses in my city are an example of how, as Levianon pointed out earlier in this thread, the federal government flushes huge amounts of money down the toilet. Personally speaking, I see very little back for my tax dollars that go to the federal government. My local and state governments, on the other hand, provide good value for what I pay them.

The city of Pittsburgh fucked up. Blaming the bridge on Trump and the Republicans (actually Democrats and Republicans after Pelosi became speaker) doesn't make a lot of sense.

Democrats in big cities need to start electing competent people like Michael Bloomberg for local and state government and school boards. Or just elect Republicans, like the current governors of Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Vermont and New Hampshire. They're all Republicans.

The democrats stopped Trump from signing any infrastructure bill (presidents don't pass anything) and the republicans helped pass an infrastructure bill for Biden. Seems like the democrats are the problem.

Really ?

The Republican Party retained their majorities in both the House and the Senate, and with Donald Trump being sworn in as President on January 20, 2017, this gave the Republicans an overall federal government trifecta for the first time since the 109th Congress in 2005.

The way you have worded your statement, there was a bill on paper in front of the president. How was the president stopped from signing it? Did they hide the pens? Put it under a salad? Distract him with a big mac? I didn't hear anything about a gun to the head.

All the dickering is in Congress. *THAN* what gets through is put on the potus desk. Up to him at that moment to sign or not.
