Probaby some of both. I think the article makes a strong point for the cultural idea of defending one's personal honor in destructive ways, the word honor interpreted in a loose way among the poor and uneducated.

Nurture can certainly overcome nature, but in large groups nature over-rules nurture. That's obvious. We've all seen the behavior at riots, Daytona, Virginia beach, when a sports team wins, when another black criminal gets a tax payer relief shot. It's so common we expect it.

regarding the riots, it takes 1 person or a small group to gaslight people to whip them into a frenzy and start a riot.


the situation here is that someone is purposely disrupting nurture so that nature can overcome it in large groups.
