I used to evaluate grant ($$$) requests from researchers. During requests for additional information, we'd get all sorts of crap where folks would slam other outfits, praise their on scientific knowledge and mention who else was giving them funding etc.
We ended up having to limit data submitted on these supplemental info requests to two pages. We also had to expand the grant application instructions to include do not dos or you'll be rejected.
It actually was intentional limits on the screaming gimmie gimmie gimmie bs.
