Default running for president

In our lifetime, we have seen a former president's kid get elected president. Then the wife of a former president almost was elected. Then another kid of a former president ran for president. Then the running mate of a former president was elected.

Why can't we get a better pool of candidates to choose from ? Or are we getting what we deserve ?

Another question is what would W Bush have achieved if he was not a member of the lucky sperm club.

You can have an opinion about Jimmy Carter, but there is no doubt that guy is really smart, and ethical.

Mr. Reagan had good experience in political issues before running, and he was a self made man, with convictions, so that was not bad at all. And what are the chances you could get a cabinet member with almost the same name as you.......Mr Regan.

Thank god we do not have to talk about Hillary. She is probably sobbing now that a female is vice president, and her chance slipped away. But the Democrats still can't get rid of her.

Obama ? Very cool that he showed up. Likely we will not see anyone like him for another 50 years.

I don’t see it. I see an attempt but I’m not sure she can Win people over. Every ad will have Trump and folks attacking the Capitol. And I’m not sure she can raise the kinda money that the RNC will put against her then what she’d need against the DNC.

She’s attractive but I’m not sure her family name will help her.

Unfortunately, we get candidates who have tons of political experience, and wealthy backers, or broke youngsters no one has ever heard of. Often, the latter will eventually become the former.

I'm sorry to say, we are getting what we deserve. It takes way too much money to run a campaign.

Did you see on Joe's address he said that Beau Biden really should be the President? Yep, that's their mindset.

You ever get the idea that "The Swamp" is a family owned business?

Answer is in front of your nose and rampant on this board. Polarization and unwillingness to compromise. Witness "My Way" as theme song for Trumps departure. Coupled with modern media where sound bites count more than substance. Did no one notice that the Republican Party didn't even bother to update their platform this year, despite covid and other issues? Don't have an answer other than I tend to put some blame on voters who dont think beyond what they want to hear.
