I don't think the OP is saying that Trump intentionally did it. I think he is just saying that Trump's ridiculous presidency has exposed some fissures.

But I think he missed another big point. The Dems also have a big problem. They have emerged as a party of elites that care nothing about the working class except to promise them more welfare - not jobs.

I think there is going to be a major realignment of the parties. The GOP picked up a LOT more Hispanic votes and black male votes in the past election than they have before. They are becoming the party of working class people, despite all the phone rhetoric from the left.

Pelosi et al. pull all of their support from the tech industry, the media companies, the entertainment industry, academia, and, increasingly, Wall Street.

None of those groups gives a shit about working class Americans. If they did, we would NEVER have the levels of immigration we have and we would never have allowed so many jobs to be shipped out of the country.

The GOP is probably going to jettison the open border libertarian nuts and the "tax cuts above all else" cult members. Bye-bye Grover Norquist. Nobody is signing your stupid pledge anymore. Free trade will give way to at least some levels of protectionism.

The Dems will end up jettisoning most of the folks making below $100K per year. They will be the party of big cities more than ever.

I only hope - as has been expressed by other posters - that the damage the DPST/CCP arrogant elitists do is recoverable in 2 years time.

I fear the DPST/CCP will pack the SC with radicals -, rendering them forever immune to being thrown out by free election - as they will , with their expertise at voter fraud, use just that to ensure there is never a free election again in America! They will throw out the electoral College - without a Constitutional amendment - ( that document is irrelevant to the DPST/CCP) - rendering The socialist states of kalifnroia and NY in total control of elections via popular vote only. it is their blueprint for marxist revolution.

Calm down.

Supreme Court justices appointed under the US constitution cannot turn around and ignore the same Constitution for the purpose of getting rid of the Electoral College. They don't have that power.

If they did ignore it, they would be impeached and removed from office for their malfeasance.

Better yet, since they hypothetically don't care about the Constitution, then the President could fire all of them. What are they going to do? Invoke the lifetime tenure provisions of the same Constitution they rejected?

OK, you are getting ridiculous.

It doesn't matter if they pack SCOTUS with radicals. The Dems would be swept out of office in the next election. Unless you are also saying there are no more elections, in which case we have a civil war and all those justice and radical congressmen will be running for their lives. Even they know that.

So, a new Congress will impeach everyone of the justices that are ignoring the constitution.

And you missed my point about the President firing the Justices. If the SCOTUS is ignoring the constitution, what is to stop a new president from ignoring the constitution and firing them? Or arresting them for sedition and insurrection or whatever?

The point is that if you go down that road, then you cannot expect your opponents to play by the rule book while you ignore the rules.

Neither side will be bound by rules and nothing can be predicted at that point. It's just civil war and authoritarianism. By both sides.
