I wouldn't be surprised either but my point is the evangelicals (who really aren't that powerful) like Trump because of his abortion stance. Whether or not his stance is malleable is beside the point.

I think it eroded Trump's popularity and enabled the Dems to take back the House. The media didn't waste their time, they were able to get great ad revenue provided nearly free of charge courtesy the DNC.

I think having all 3 chambers in the hands of the same party led to Dems taking back the House more than anything. Neither side likes it when that happens (White House, House, and Senate)
