Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV). No effective prophylactic or post-exposure therapy is currently available.
Results
We report, however, that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. This is why I decided not to take it when a physician wanted to prescribe it for me, to prevent malaria. And it is a proven prophylaxis for malaria. The paper in the original post provides strong evidence chloroquinine and hydroxychloroquine kill a lot more coronavirus patients than they save. Very few physicians will prescribe it going forward. According to eccielover, President Trump has stopped taking it.
