This is no time to be giving SS recipients a raise.

Nobody should get any more than they were getting when they were working and nobody getting an unemployment check now, should get an increase. This is why I'm against a One amount covers everybody approach. I can't imagine how cumbersome it would be but I would like to have seen a way that a laid off worker could offer proof to their local bank with an estimated amount of salary since many will get their money from tips, the bank cuts them a check for a month and the bank is reimbursed through the government stimulus plan instead of everybody getting a check with many like myself in no need of a check. That's just pure greed at a time when greed could cost us our future.

I agree. Up to a point. I said before, and several others said the same thing, that I don't need the money from the stimulus bill in order to get by. But I do know people on Social Security who are still working low paying jobs because they need the money. Not every SS recipient is receiving what you and I are receiving. And for many in retirement, SS is their only source of income. But I understand your point totally.

Thank you for "partially" understanding my point but if you think that this crisis should provide "equality of income" then you missed what I consider the biggest part of my point. That one's SS check isn't "sufficient", isn't the fault of the American taxpayer who will have to try and right this economy after this massive bailout, necessary though it may be. But I do understand this is "Progressive" thinking so it doesn't shock me that you think this way.

Nobody that still has a job no matter the pay check, should get a "Virus check".
Nobody getting a SS check no matter the amount should get a Virus check.
Nobody getting a pension no matter the amount, should get a Virus check.
Nobody already getting an unemployment check should get a Virus check.

No Corporation getting a Virus check can use it for stock buy back or salary raises for existing management or workers.
There should be absolutely nothing in this stimulus not directly impacted by the virus crisis. No Green New Deal, nothing about voting, nothing about immigration, nothing, nothing, nothing about anything other than making sure people who lost their job mandated by the government should get a dime, period.

If you don't make as much as your neighbor makes from their job, SS, pension or any other means, this is not the time to increase your income. You had a lifetime to figure that shit out.

One of my best friends worked his entire life based on tips which of course he failed to adequately report for 30 plus years. No his SS check is far less than it would have been if he declared every dollar he made like I did, like I had to.

He should not now complain that his SS check is not enough to live on.

We will never or should we ever have "equality of income" in this country because that would mean we have turned into something less than a capitalist country and that would be our eventual downfall IMHO.

Dude! How often do you go to the range? I got several boxes of the same cal. but don't have near that amount. They'll go stale and IMO you'll only need a couple of shots.

I did fuck up and get .223 instead of 5.56.

I understood your original point completely. Your points are valid.

Obviously the people in power disagree with you -- Trump, the House and the Senate.

If you don't need your check give it to your children or grandchildren or someone you know who does.

If my points are valid, why wouldn't every Democrat and Republican heed them?

I don't think it is obvious at all that the majority would disagree with what I wrote. The only reason in my opinion Trump or any Republican be it in the House or Senate would agree with your perspective is because they must compromise to get a bill passed not that they think what is in the bill is necessary.

What I have proposed is common sense. You only put in the bill what is necessary. You only compensate those who lost their job because the government mandated it therefore the government should pay. Nobody but a far left Progressive would ever use this as an excuse to try and create income equality like Socialist and Communist do and right now, the Democratic party is loaded with both.

I'd take this even further. Heard a great proposal by Matt Gaetz.

From my new favorite website TRIGGER ALERT! TRIGGER ALERT!

https://justthenews.com/politics-pol...lowing-chinese

Gaetz offers bill to block taxpayer dollars to state-owned Chinese businesses

Gaetz's legislation comes as Congress works to pass stimulus measures to help Americans and businesses impacted by the coronavirus crisis
GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced legislation Tuesday to stop U.S. taxpayer dollars from flowing into Chinese government-owned businesses.
"The global coronavirus pandemic has been exacerbated by the Chinese government’s malicious misinformation and propaganda campaign against the United States and its citizens," said Gaetz, a Florida Republican who had to self-quarantine after coming in close contact with the virus. "Allowing American taxpayers’ money to go to companies owned by the Communist Chinese government is antithetical to our ‘America First’ agenda."
Gaetz's Chinese Handouts in National Assistance Act, or the No CHINA Act, comes as Congress works toward passing a massive stimulus package to prop up American businesses and workers amid the coronavirus crisis crippling the nation's economy.

We’ve got a cabin in north central pa where we can shoot right in the yard, so we run through quite a bit. Most of the 22 I picked up when there was a shortage. A little hardware store, now closed, in Green County always had the Val-packs of the CCI AR Tactical (333 rounds), which is a great load for 10/22 and SR22, so I’d pick up a few boxes when driving by. Shit just built up. As far as going bad, properly stored it’ll be just fine long after I’m dead.

You didn’t fuck up. 223 is fine for a 5.56, just not the other way around.

I haven't seen the final bill but it seems to me they are saying that every American gets a check if you made less than $99,000 last year. I hope I'm wrong because that will be an unmitigated disaster for our economy IMHO. Talk about exploding the debt.

Why didn't you address your complaint to HedonistForever too? He has more of a problem with the money being doled out incorrectly than I do.

Possibly bacause of our diffeneces in political leanings?

You would have to ask the members of congress who will vote to pass the bill why they did so.

This is not MY perspective. I would have no problem with eliminating those you suggested from receiving cash payouts -- myself included.

I have not heard a single person in Congress complain about the money being given to individuals. Not one. You can say they are compormising simply to get ANY bill passed, but no one seems to be saying that they wouldn't include the cash payouts to virtually everyone.
