in the fifties polio shots where given to every kid, still have my little round vaccine mark, faded as it is
there were mass vaccinations of the salk vaccine, developed in the 50's, there was no delay
cases dropped by around 90%
then sabin developed an oral vaccine and the scrouge of polio was virtually eliminated
