Police statement..

Dmitriy N. Andreychenko, 20, of Springfield was charged Friday with making a terrorist threat in the second-degree. That's a felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison.

Andreychenko allegedly said he was testing whether Walmart "honored the Second Amendment."

Being charged is not the same thing as guilty. They have to save face. They turned out, grabbed him, got the photo op, and they just can't let him walk.

They are already in a lot of them. Only if the manager asks you to leave and you refuse does it become misdemeanor trespass. There are videos on YouTube showing people being harassed while NOT breaking any laws. However, legal does not mean smart.

Yeah the more I'm reading about this as a whole(thank you other members for the additional information), I think he was indeed within his rights in what he did. Whether a smart ploy based on the heightened sensitivity at the time is another discussion.

I immediately over-reacted with the first headlines of him "brandishing" weapons that would have put everyone on alert.

From what I'm seeing, "brandishing" now means to many just open carry.

I need more overall information here. With the manager hitting the fire alarm, I don't condemn the off-duty firefighter for taking control with this gentleman, but under other circumstances could have been overreach.
