I'll give you my input.

Reason 1: Very possibly many people who would have voted for Clinton sat out the election for various reasons. They did not like Clinton enough to get out and vote. Maybe they never thought Trump would win so they did not get out and vote. In 2018 those same people were motivated to get out and vote.

Reason 2: People finally saw Trump as I saw him. A vindictive narcissist who could not get along with anyone and valued his own opinion over experts in their field. An egoist. A man who resorted to name-calling to anyone who had the audacity to disagree with him.

Reason 3: A failure to accomplish much of anything. No repeal/replace of Obamacare and absolutely nothing done on the healthcare issue, which is one of the highest priority issues with voters. A tax reform package that favored the rich over the middle class, which was the opposite result of what he had promised. No forward movement on immigration. Even with 2 years of Republican House and Senate majority he could not get funding for his wall. Respect for the U.S. falling among our closest allies.

In my opinion those are valid reasons why people either came out to vote in 2018 that did not vote in 2016 or why many voters who had supported Trump in 2016 supported Democratic candidates in 2018. I'm sure you and others may disagree with my reasons but I believe they are, unlike your statements, valid reasons why Republicans had little success in the 2018 mid-terms.
