There's a minor difference. In those cases, the police could throw a veil, albeit thin and almost always complete bullshit, of justification by saying the suspect did something to give cause for lethal force.
I'd love to hear a reason it might have been justified. They did attempt to mention that an illicit substance was found at his apartment in an attempt to dirty his character and got lit up by the public response.
They really have nothing to save her. I'm going to be shocked if she's not found guilty. DPD, to save any progress in community relationships, needs her to be guilty.
