Head on out around 8am and head to Buc-ees and get your 4 year old fishing partner some breakfast, then exit on 61st St.....go to the Seawall, and at around 90th street there is a huge fishing pier. Go on the weekdays as the weekend is too busy. Use little bitty hooks and put on small pieces of shrimp and that will keep the littler feller busy. You don't need to go very far from the store area. There's an elderly Asian lady who catches tons of fish close to the shore, so the fish are there.
If you just drop your baited hook to the water, you can catch fish like that, without trying to cast way out there.
