Man take a chance and just do it. I went there in Nov and I am from Houston area. I learned what to do and what not to do just by reading the post in here. I was really easy. I drove down from LA and parked my car at the border and walked across. Asked a few people along the way on for directions to the border and walked across and took a taxi for $5 to Zona Norte (North Zone). TJ is great now, I go about once every 2 months. The Hong Kong bar is unreal beautiful chicks good prices about $60-80 for a half hour but the service is spotty at best no GFE at all, but if you just want a quickie with a beautiful girl that's a great option.
The best and newest thing in TJ now is the escorts (IMHO) $100-150 per hour full GFE and they have websites with pic's. They do kiss, daty bbbj and some do anal. Don't worry about the language most of the girls speak a little english, and you can depend on your peso-nality to make things work

From what I understand the hotel doesn't have a problem with it, but the chicks on the street have deals/a relationship with the short time hotel they hang out in front of and don't want to mess up said deal by going to a different hotel with you. Likewise from what I've read most escort agencies in the city won't send their ladies to the area near HK, so if you want to see an escort from an agency it'd be better if you stay in one of the more monger friendly hotels.
