Fishermen

Anyone who drives for a living or has it as a substantial part of their job

I would have said correction officers but the majority of facilities are rather tame

I’ve definitely been in more correctional facilities than most criminals. Never felt unsafe in a federal one. Usually felt safe in local jails. State prisons are the wild card. But you have to realize most facilities are not max or super max, they are minimum with work release and secure but not particularly dangerous.

If im interviewing serial killers or sociopaths, then, yes...I’m freaked out, but usually, not a biggie at all. And I’m just there visiting not working every day.

Bo thro please understand, and I'm guessing you simply go in there for a work assignment then bail, so you don't have any understandings of da complexities of dat penitentiary. Feds being worst maam, like most folks in there literally give 4 fucks. Shie Da Great is a law abiding citizen, but from what I hear penitentiaries in Texas are hot, crappy food, no pussy, gang invested and just don't foooking want to be there so I'm sure people in there are constantly in just a great mood. Treyway! Toodlez...

So you want me to amend my answer to Penitentiary Prisoners having a dangerous job?

Most correctional officers nationwide serve out their employment without a major injury or death.

Law enforcement is not considered to be a dangerous job, not even placed in the top 10 most dangerous jobs.
The top killer of cops is themselves. More officers die by way of traffic accidents than by being shot.

Interesting replies, just about every job mentioned here has crossed my mind as being more dangerous then hooking.

I've noticed that anytime I tell someone that cares about me what I do, their only argument about my job is how dangerous it is, but it's really not.

One of my friends that is most outspoken about her thoughts about the dangers of my job just invested all her funds into a taco truck. She's located out in the boondocks and works until 1am. Plus, it's just her, her mom and her sister. 3 women. That's dangerous!

I've never worked the kind of late night/night shift job you described, so can't really attest to it.

Do I feel like this is a dangerous job or get scared doing it? Abso-fucking-lutely.

It is one of the reasons I have decided to finally quit. It is fun and I have had a lot of fun doing it and met some amazing people, but somehow, the older I get, the less willing I am to take the risk day in, day out.

Here is an article listing the 25 most dangerous jobs in America. They don't consider sex workers or drug traffickers either. But Notice that cop is number 14. There are quite a few more dangerous jobs than cop.

My job has 6 of these all rolled up into 1.
40 years and I never thought of it as that dangerous.
In the 70's, it was. No one cared if you got hurt.
Once OSHA started conducting investigations and keeping track of worker injuries, only then did big companies start worrying about injuries and death.
Lawyers suing them woke them up also.
Now they just say they are interested in your safety. But really, they are worried about losing money or lawsuits.

Thanks for the link. I decided to look up what the same statistics were for prostitutes and it says it is 204 out of 100k, while logging (listed as the number one most dangerous industry) is 135.9 out of 100k.

These deaths (and the people they interviewed) must be street walkers because it actually says "the average prostitute gets physically (but non-lethally) attacked approximately once a month" and I don't know any working girls that fall into those statistics. I'd really like to know how many working girls are killed daily. It's hard for my mathematically challenged self to appreciate or understand how often is 204 out of 100k. Is this 1 murder a day in America? 2 murders a day in America? I really have no clue :-(

(According to recent statistics, the death rate for prostitutes in the U.S. is 204 out of every 100,000.)
https://www.hg.org/legal-articles/pr...d-states-30997

(Logging workers > Fatal injuries in 2016: 135.9 per 100,000 workers)
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...ca/1002500001/

Danger:
Prostitution is one of the most dangerous professions in the country; worse than Alaskan fisherman, or loggers, or oil rig workers. According to recent statistics, the death rate for prostitutes in the U.S. is 204 out of every 100,000. For fishermen, it is 129 out of every 100,000. Also, the average prostitute gets physically (but non-lethally) attacked approximately once a month. One reason for these numbers is that prostitution is illegal in every state (even Nevada where it is only allowed in brothels in certain parts of the state). When prostitutes face violence they have nowhere to turn without being arrested themselves. Consequently, prostitutes are an easy target, and even serve as the butt of jokes about violence and murder on TV shows and movies.
