No complaint or RTM necessary. If a thread that is in violation of the guidelines appears, it will be addressed and there will be consequences.

This should be a clear indication how seriously the site admins are taking cases of unnecessary rudeness, insulting remarks, and harassment of others.

We live in really uncertain times, where shit we’d previously deemed strange doesn’t raise an eyebrow.

It seems to me there has been a steady rise in “weird shit” especially as it pertains to crimes/controversies involving Sex, cyber bullying and racial/ethnic hatred in this country.

After the recent dark period, maybe ownership is simply covering its ass.

Don’t really blame them.

Yes, there has been a rise in "weird shit" and those same people that scream about it are the same people who squawk when someone tells them that they are in the wrong. These are the same people that think they are entitled and that their opinions are always right. What they fail to understand is everyone has different opinions and express them differently. These people are very self righteous about their opinions and have no tolerance for other opinions. Yet, they scream the loudest on intolerance when it suits their needs. This is not kindergarten - I don't need to be told to be nice to others - I already am nice to others.

It's getting to the point where if a member writes a "No review" that is considered rude and insulting!! Just pay attention and you'll see !! By the new definitions and the ways the mods. are implementing the rules a "No review" is considered a personal and unnecessary attack !

There are actually three things involved: Objective information, opinions, and how they are expressed.

Objective info SHOULD be the simplest of the three, but sadly even objective facts seem to be blurred. They shouldn't be: A lady was on time or not. Her photos are accurate or not. A guy respected stated boundaries or not. If someone states things that are not true in that regard, that is wrong and should not be quietly accepted.

Opinions are more difficult, but even there a person should be able to state an opinion in a way that includes some back-up. Not "Her place was disgusting", which is a subjective opinion, but mostly useless and invites endless open-ended interpretations. I don't think it is asking too much to expect "Her place was littered with used McDonald's wrappers and smelled of stale smoke." That tells me something useful, and also allows her to respond. Responding to "Her place was disgusting" is near impossible to reply to without some guys instantly claiming that she should keep her mouth shut if she can't be specific in her rebuttal. Similarly with "He was rude and disrespectful"--minimal useful info and hard if not impossible to defend against.

But I think the major emphasis of the "changes" are dealing with the third area, HOW one expresses their opinion. Yes, I understand "everyone expresses themselves differently", but some of those "different" ways are needlessly insulting and derogatory. I am sorry, but even negative, unpleasant points can be made without adding a five pound bag of gratuitous insults. And yes, there is subjectivity there. So be it--there is subjectivity in most everything.

If the admin/owners/mods want things more like "She looked older than her touched up photos, and had more crows feet than I expected. Her breasts sagged a bit and her breath smelled strongly of cigarettes." instead of "What a disgusting fat pig! Too many trips through the all-you-can eat buffet have turned her into a caricature of herself. I am sure there are bodies in the morgue for a month that look better than she does." I have a hard time seeing where that makes the site less informative. Regardless of what some seem to believe.
