Default Pesky Out of State Hang up Calls

We all get the recorded messages from "Alison in the warranty department" or the chick from the travel agency wanting to give you a free vacation, but what about those random out of state calls where they hang up as soon as you answer? If it were phishing I'd assume they wouldn't immediately hang up.

They assume you'll call back.
That way they can't get whacked by the do not call rules.
Thus, simply ignore

Yup. If i don't recognize the number, i just leave it for my voicemail to get. IF THEY Want a call back, they will leave one.. otherwise i assume they are just phishing..

If they don't leave a voice mail, just block the calling number.

And if you save legitimate calling numbers in your contact list, you may answer or hear the v.m. or call back or send text.

My personal cell phone has over 200 blocked numbers and my hobby cell more than 50.

Very easy with android or iphone to manage most of the BS calls, and, if you really want help block 'em, report the calling number to 800notes.com or can do same on other data bases via google.

I am hoping someone invents a downloadable "block these numbers to my cell contacts" and updates that every 24 hours!

Of course, not publishing your number won't block auto dialers that just plumb entire area codes and nnxes.

UPDATE!

If you have any of the major cell carriers you may be noticing "Scam Likely" flashes on an incoming call, because the better carriers now have software to let you know the incoming call has somehow been identified as a spam or scam.

Feel free to deny the call/send it to voice mail, and then you have whatever recording was left to wade through. Otherwise, just hit the "add to my blocked list" and calls from the number won't ever ring through again. Hopefully!

Android you can download apps that block all calls from anyone who is not in your contacts.
Wish iPhone did.

If a name doesn't pop up on my cell phone, then I don't answer it. If it's something important they'll leave a voice mail and I'll get back to them. Makes life much easier.

I have waited for them to come on the line and talk shit to them.
I usually piss them off and they hang up on me.
I then block the number.

Default Wastes sooo much time!

What about the one that says you may be eligible for student loan forgiveness? Too bad they didn’t call 10 years ago when I still had one! Lol.
There are so many apps now that you can get to have fake numbers generated for you to use! You really can’t truly block someone anymore. They’ll just make a fake number and call back! Download: hiya, number guru, or true caller. There’s many more, they will spit spam calls and auto block them!

I've always wondered, HOW THOSE apps are even legal?

I get calls everyday about my warranty expiring and healthcare. I block the numbers everyday but another number pops up daily. It is very annoying!
