Default Infraction due to posting on old post

Hi Everyone...I am relative new here, while reading some of the older posts I thanked the poster (did that only twice). When I logged in 2 days back, I see that I received 2 infractions 5 points x 2. First I did not know that there it is a infraction to thank someone on old post, second if it is, perhaps would be better to give a warning? Finally, what do this infractions means? It shows in my account that they will expire in September. Thanks.

Bumping a thread that’s more than 30 days old..
That’s what the infractions are for I bet..

Rack 5 more points up and you get banned..

I advise you to read all of the rules..

Just like in real life Ignorance of eccie law is not an excuse..

Sorry Bud.

Staffs discretion on Bans..
Some bans are until points fall off, some are for a month some 6 months, some a year and some are forever..

Different strokes for different things...

I haven’t ever been banned..

I try to keep my point 10 and under lol...

Good Morning KiKi!!

What I do know for a fact is that stealing and robbing and ousting real life info are permanent bans... As they should be...

My suggestion would be just to go back through and get as much information as you can about the rules. Don't sweat it. Just keep moving forward. I was the same way when I first got on this site.

That seems like pretty steep points for a minor offense like that.

Wrong - 25 points will get you a ban. Normally with point accumulation it's 90 days. The system is automatic.

Also, it's not up to the mod. There is a pre-set system of points depending on the infraction. We don't choose.

Serious infractions will give longer bans, such as outing.

Contact admin. and the Mod. that pointed you and ask for a reduction and or/reversal! Sometimes they will reverse the points. This is not guaranteed!! But worth asking.. Admin. is a little busy right now so you may have to have patience until they get back to you.

I thought it was only reviews that were over 30days old that should be avoided unless there is new info. If we can’t see old reviews, how could you post on them?

Historically, there is not a prohibition on posting on old threads, it’s just annoying most of the time. If you received points for simply reviving an outdated post, check with a different mod for clarification.

That's my recollection, too, with the justification being that we didn't want to revive reviews that may have stale information. That said, I don't think the pointing was automatic (or rather, automated); I remember several cases where mods didn't notice that a 30+ day old thread had just been revived and they let it slide).

Cheers,

bcg

#12 - In our review forums, be mindful of the 'maturity' of threads you are posting to, ie. the date of the last item posted. We ask that you refrain from posting to a review in which the last post was made 30 or more days ago. Some exceptions may apply if you are providing relevant, valuable or updated information about the provider, but as a general rule of thumb, this can best be accomplished by writing a new review altogether and avoiding the bumping of old ones. This applies to our review forums, in particular, as discussion threads are often allowed to flow for an unspecified length of time.

This is what I found.
