Default Weird Louisiana Laws

In Louisiana, it’s illegal to lie.
It’s also illegal to make a promise and not keep it—but only if you knew you weren’t going to keep it before you made it.

Other weird laws?

Oral sex is illegal also in Louisiana. If convicted of this “crime” in Louisiana, punishment includes registering as a sex offender, a fine of up to $2000, and/or up to five years in prison. Now that's insane!

Anyone have an answer on this...Is prostitution considered a "sex" crime? Will the convicted be required to register as a sex offender? And, go through all the requirements that go along with that, such as notifying publicly where you reside? As well as having that posted on the internet.

It is technically on the books, but was ruled unconstitutional in a 2003 Supreme Court ruling,
so they are unenforceable.

In Louisiana a person could land in jail for up to 10 years for stealing an alligator.

...I wonder how do you steal one cause this one wasn't going anywhere w/out a fight. The Gator knocked the trapper out cold.

Question

~P,

Thanks for these educational links

Wonder if a privately owned alligator must be registered, have vaccinations and wear an alligator tag

I meant the claim that lying was against the law. The alligator thing is a little easier to understand.

Falls under 'False promise' - 'False swearing'
16th one down from the previous link (weird LA laws)

Louisiana Revised Statutes Tit. 14, § 125. False swearing

A. False swearing is the intentional making of a written or oral statement, known to be false, under sanction of an oath or an equivalent affirmation, where such oath or affirmation is required by law;  provided that this article shall not apply where such false statement is made in, or for use in, a judicial proceeding or any proceeding before a board or official, wherein such board or official is authorized to take testimony.

B. Whoever commits the crime of false swearing shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.

Of course you're not really interested in these weird laws since according to your handle you disregard the law anyway. Lol Lol

You would think that every politician would be serving a prison sentence after their term was completed.
