Here's also an interesting read for yinz. Last night was right up there in the batshit crazy-shpere for WS games.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb...cid=spartanntp
And I beg to differ. If for some reason LA gets their asses pasted in Houston, it will be every bit as significant as the Gibson HR. After Gibson hit that one off the world's greatest closer, Dennis Eckersley, Oakland just crumbled for the rest of the series. And, it came in GAME ONE. Dodgers went on to win series 4-1.
If the Astros pound them Dodgers in the HOU and -- as unlikely as it is -- this ends in 5, then Gonzalez' HR will be the spark that set it off.
It's going to be fun.

Well, nobody really remembers game 2 of a WS. Way too early to label Gonzalez’s dinger a defining moment. I think there’s more to come to define this series.

Hal Smith hit that home run. Dick Stuart was on deck when Maz swatted the game winner. But yeah, you just proved how nobody remembers good ol' Hal.

Yes he did. I thought it was Stuart. I went back and researched it to be sure. So I edited my post. Vernon Law, won 2 games and pitched game 7 with a bum ankle was the true heroe of the Series. My link recounts game 7. A pretty good read.

Vernon Law was a teetotaling Mormon. All of the 1960 Pirates had colorful names like Elroy Face, Smokey Burgess, Vernon Law, etc.
Remember the routine double play grounder that took a bad hop and hit Yankee shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat in Game 7? That helped to set up Hal Smith's 8th inning home run. Kubek went to the hospital. After the game, one Pirate took time off from all the wild celebrating to visit Tony Kubek in the hospital. I can't remember if it was Dick Groat or Bob Friend. Class act.

Kubek was never the same after that injury. I was in a local memorabilia store years ago. There was a blown up photo of Mantle flying towards second base. You could see the dirt flying from his cleats. The caption read, 450ft out! Dead center in Forbes was 459ft. They would store the BP cage there during the games. They wanted $500 for the photo. I offered 250. Wouldn’t sell it. Mantle was my dads favorite player.

Basically bet 120 on the Astros to win 100. Over/under 8.5 runs. I would bet the under. It will be crazy in Houston tonight. I’m laying off the game.

Under wins.
So do the Astros!
Kicked the shit out of Yu Darvish along the way to a 2-1 series win.
Houston puts the pressure on the Dodgers pitching staff yet again.
