parts from flooded cars

It's probably hard to get a flooded car from an insurance company intact. Individuals can't buy at the auctions, and dealers will buy and strip down all the good body parts.
Or is it possible ?

A flooded car purchased from an individual would be different.

Likely almost all electrical items will need to be replaced, or give you trouble. But you could get a car with a perfectly good body.

Depends on how much water remains inside the body panels where they will eventually cause rust or corrosion.

Lots of cars aren't covered by comp insurance and won't be "totaled" and removed from the market.

I know several folks that spent about 3ķ each to get back on the road after the tax day flood.

A DIY person just might be able to salvage a 1960s car...
With todays cars, it can be said , that they are mobile computers, with 'black boxes' everywhere have lots of fun trying to dry that stuff off.

I was told this 10-15 years ago. Currently it will be problematic because of the back-to-back storms and flooding. But I was told the cars on the East coast that were flooded are "cleaned" up, sprayed to smell good, and transported to the middle states for seeling and vice versa. It's my understanding the environmental necessaries on the West coast keep them out.

I don't know what parts you want, but the water that gets in cars around the coast (which includes Florida) "ain't distilled"! These cars die because of electronics, but also because they suck moisture into the engine ... and all the body panels are flooded .... you have to break the whole thing down and DRY IT, CLEAN IT, AND DRY IT AGAIN. After I see clean metal I paint it.

Caveat: Most of these used parts places are in low, floodable areas, but there are some reliable warehouses out of the flood areas. I've got a bunch of parts contacts that are reliable for older vehicles ... now considered "antiques" and discontinued models. Online order.
