Edited to add: I'm also stuck with an old grumpy man right now (who does not mix well with a toddler and only watches the TV with the volume on max) and have been for the past 24 hours, so that may be effecting my mood a bit. I just gave him a hint that we should take him home, but it seems as if the hint didn't land.
I used to enjoy hurricanes, blizzards, etc., too....back before I owned anything worth protecting. Now that I do, just the thought of financial hickeys, insurance fuckery, repair crews, and the dreaded mess to clean up has put an end to my enjoyment of natural disasters. Hell, I never even had air conditioning until I was a grown ass man but now just the thought of losing my AC is almost more than I can handle.

You don't own possessions. They own you.

How is this possible ? Are you like 100 yrs old or some shit. You almost sound as if the AC thingy is a recent development.

He's saying that he didn't own his own home. Renting isn't exactly like owning. When things break down in your own home, YOU have to get it fixed.

I took care of that before the storm!

If I were that well connected, it would have landed somewhere else.

And sent Governor Abbott a bill.

I noticed that a couple of nights ago .... and it always helps to listen to different sources of information to get a fuller picture of the prognosis. Kinda like screening a hooker.

I am trying to discover whose idea it was to have citizens sit on the top of their roof in the rain during the tornado alerts while they call 911 to have a Coast Guard rescue crew pluck them off!

Make sure not to "hang up" under any circumstances, even if the noise is so loud you can't hear the operator. The mayor down South had it right! Use marks-a-lot to put your name and social on your body for identification after you don't get rescued.
