Being drafted isn't brave when you don't actually have a say.

Not dodging is brave, but you get to choose between going to war, where the chances are good you'll die or become disabled, and going to prison. Choosing either is pretty brave. Avoiding both is smart.

Selective Service (Draft) KIC = 17,672 out of Total KIC 58,193

There were statistics from the 2000 national census that something like 13 million people fraudulently claimed to have served "IN VIETNAM" (meaning "in country").

That stats as of 2000 (it would be even less today ... 16 years later) were that 80% of those claiming to be Vietnam Vets WERE NOT!

Thanks for the info. I'm not surprised. I figured the numbers were bloated by the trauma and emotion. I don't want to dismiss the loss. It was significant. But I'm also worn out by the fetishizing of the military. And the pussification of my love tunnel.

In the 60's and 70's it wasn't "fashionable" to discuss one's military experience and status, unless, of course, like John Kerry, one was using their alleged military experiences and statuses to add "credibility" to their "anti-war" protesting.

The folks with whom I was close didn't talk about it. Still don't. They were disgusted at John Kerry, and I was also.

The numbers became "bloated" by the pro-military attitudes developing in the 90's and clearly into the 2000's. One began seeing more uniforms at airports and occasionally in public buildings. It was almost strange to see.

Look at the posts in these threads with the claims of "draft dodging" ... when only 10% of the generation at that time served in the military in one capacity or another. Were the remaining 90% draft dodgers? The last Democrat POTUS who served was Carter ... look how he turned out!!! On the other hand the same crowd thinks Clinton and Obaminable's asses don't stink, and neither one of them served in the military ... but look what they say about Trump! ..
