Shit I woulda gladly got off the plane, taken the cash, and book a provider for a couple hours till the next flight. I am never fast enough when they ask for volunteers. There are usually a bunch of dudes already ahead of me.

The key word is volunteered. If you bought a ticket and they let you on the plane with that ticket, they have no right to force you off that plane.
Especially with him traveling with his wife. They were going to seperate him from his wife. What kind of idiots are at this airline. Think the saddest part was his wife following him out the plane.

Wonder when/if feds will step in. By fed rules if voluntary bump no action by airlines is needed (aside the voucher thing). If involuntarily bumped they are supposed to issue something in writing explaining the passenger's rights to that passenger which United didn't do.
Doc got himself a lawyer. CEO now apologizing. Kaching time for Doc.

400...no takers
Try 800 no takers...ok.
800 plus Roundtrip voucher good anytime. People jump.
Is still cheaper than what they did by 1000 fold.
The airline's actions made absolutely no sense.
A guy on the job for 1 day could make a better decision.
The CEO is out of his mind to stand by anyone who made that decision.

I haven't really thought much about this but revisiting this thread and reading LA's post I agree with LA.
This doesn't apply to that man on the plane but unfortunately spastic childlike over reactions similar to this will be pretty common in the future I presume with the younger generation.
Not all young people but my observation the last several years is today's younger generation obsession with their Iphone they can virtually go years without ever lifting there head up and looking at, processing and feeling the world around them. They don't look around and observe and process how adults carry themselves, act and speak or how pretty that sunset is or how beautiful that Golden Retriever dog is.
Today's Iphone freak melinials I imagine spaz out and overreact over the smallest things like if someone politely ask them to move over or if the mustard was accidentally left off their cheeseburger.

Next flight was 3:00 p.m. the next day. Lots of folks can't afford to miss a day's work, even for $1,000. If you make more than $250,000/year, you're bacically losing money if you take that. Not to mention that your employees don't get much done when you're not there.

Yeah, I remember when it was fun to fly, even glamorous. I always think of that movie "Catch Me If You Can" That scene with Frank Sinatra singing "Come Fly With Me"
Being an airline stewardess was a high status job.
They even had beauty standards to make the cut. Pilots were role models and heroes.
Now it's just sardines packed in a can and herded like cattle - downright hard work.
However, I have seen them bid up the voucher offer to $1200 and I was one second behind a guy that rang his call attendant button. They simply should have bid it up higher.

When we don't regulate big business like airlines, oil, energy, travel, communications etc this is the type of bullshit that happens. Ive flown a lot, after 911 its a felony to "interfere" with the duties of a flight attendant/employee. That can mean anything. Ive told more than one pissy flight attendant to go fuck themselves. I have been detained twice at airports and released. But I have never been escorted off a plane after boarding. Fuck United. I would make them pay out the ass in punitive damages to the MAX

The doctor is only allowed to practice one day a week in an out patient facility due to felonies involving scripts.

I'm curious why he thought it was a good idea to resist authority to the point of being bloodied and dragged off the plane.
I understand that he didn't want to go and the circumstances were less then good for him to miss the flight, but it's absolutely his resistance that got him a beating.
He may get a huge settlement now but if it were me getting beaten and dragged wouldn't be worth it.
I do believe they could've upped the offer until someone else accepted and vacated a seat, huge mistake to let it escalate.
