kik in the Hobby
This has been coming up more and more lately. I already do 100% of my pre-session communication through electronic means (emails, pm's and text).
I am wondering if others use kik for hobby texting and if they find it advantageous and if so, for what reasons? I will confess that I've not even looked at the app yet nor tried to understand how it works.
Any insight/opinions would be much appreciated.

New one on me. Never heard of Kik until I read this and Googled. The platform looks a lot like Wix, a site-building company. Wonder if they are owned by the same parent?
Ah, did the research, and yes, Kik is the apparent offspring of Wix, an understandable progression for a web service corporation. They seem to be building the next cloud empire.

I use it. It's a decent message app but not sure it's better than snapchat whatsapp or anything else. Allows texting without the number which could be good or bad depending on your situation.

I've been hearing about it more and more and today was the 3rd time within a couple of weeks I found that clients have been using kik versus a cell number to text with providers.

Yes, the whole being able to text without a number thing is what I was thinking it is most used for and why some gents may prefer it to an actual phone number.

I can see why the fellows would like it, but if I don't have a verifiable phone number for screening, I wouldn't risk it. I don't take calls from anonymous blocked numbers, either, and this seems like the same thing.
LE will love it.

I agree it could be risky. But recently I've had 2 gents contact me, who passed screening and are legit, who preferred to use it just for when I sent them my in-call address, etc, rather than me texting a phone with this info.
I may give it a whirl, and see how I feel about it. But I agree, I won't get rid of my actual phone number any time soon.

I can see where it would provide additional discretion for gents who have passed screening, and I might use it for returning fellows to further protect their privacy when chatting about details. Let us know your opinion of it, please, after a trial.
