Congratulations Providers on Business Success
Went to a social gathering of Hobbyists, and probably for about an hour no Providers showed up. Then several providers came around the same time.(They must not be having such Booming Business as all the others.)
I know several providers have all the business they want or need. Some have regular jobs during gatherings. Some do not want to attend for other reasons. That is fine.
BUT FOR ALL THOSE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW SLOW HOBBY IS, WHERE THE REAL HOBBYISTS ARE... WELL OBVIOUSLY YOU AREN'T LOOKING

I'm sure you didn't mean to but you managed to insult the ladies that did take time out of their day to go to that gathering...because it's sounds like you are saying that the women only fraternize when they are desperate.
I know several providers have all the business they want or need. Some have regular jobs during gatherings. Some do not want to attend for other reasons. That is fine.
I'm somewhere in this grouping. Ya'll will decide on your own where. For me, social events are for finding girls to add to my to do list or more recently there is a poker table.

I've haven't seen the girls complaining in co-ed or a pre-dominance of threADs. You ever think they complain to you personally so they can fill a gap in their schedule?

I have a full time RW job and I also do part time seasonal gigs on the side (which have been every weekend these last couple of months) so the hobby is an extremely casual part time thing for me. The lunch functions are going to be incredibly difficult for me to attend because of work. The later functions are easier.
I agree w SA Angel. This thread seems to mock any and everyone who did or didn't attend for any and every reason they may have had. Knowing you are a very kind and gentle person in real life, I am going to chock this diatribe up to sexual frustration and/or a bad day.

Beautiful Strawberry and other beauties, no need to explain, but you are on the right track! Real life happens and if you happen to be on a day off you attend a "social", a social serves many functions and not only to market oneself!

thanks for comments, just personally confused about complaints all the time from providers that business is slow, unreliable hobbyists. But then miss opportunities to increase contacts from known hobbyists.
SA Angel--- thanks I didn't think about how it sounded from ones who attended. They said they would attend and did show up. didn't mean to imply they needed business.
Also, I should have specified that to all Providers. This complaint is directed at the COMPLAINERS that put SA down, SA hobbyists, and the hobby in general.
Established providers (like SA Angel) know how to run their businesses and manage their time. I'm impressed with how well some manage jobs, RW, families.
P.s. I read co-ed, men's lounge, talk to providers and hobbyists and this is not new. feel free to pretend it's me.

SMS, I figured you didn't mean any offense. You didn't strike me as the sort when we ran into each other in the past. If I did think you were being deliberately insulting, my tone would be much less friendly.
Thanks for the compliment, btw.
SA is a lovely town to hobby in. Without a doubt, the ladies certainly treat each other much more respectfully as a whole than in other towns. I also appreciate that by and large, the guys here vote with their wallet and not run their mouths off in co-ed. Co-ed here is also more positive towards providers.
So brava to this town!

I choose not to attend socials. I've been booked and even with cancellations filled up but Im low volume. I've been booked in every town I've visited in Texas. (Austin, Houston, Dallas and now an Antonio) I have spoke to a few providers that said the same thing... how slow its been.

Out of it for a long time but
I have watched ads for this social event ever since I joined, but found that besides a few insiders, nearly no hobbyists get to attend. I am not complaining, just want the providers to be aware just how limited these hobbyist selections are, probably because the organizer wants to keep most of the other hobbyists out?
The other thing I recall, when I proposed a similar event, I was ordered by one of the admins that there could be NO SUCH THING from any ECCIE site. So what has changed since then? Or is CK on some kind of arrangement with ECCE to get away with breaking rules?
If it were my event, all registered members, both provider AND hobbyists, with 4 confirmed reviews would be welcome. No other rules are necessary or fair, IMHO.
Thank you for reading my contribution, Comrades

Event vouching (and attendance) requirements
Always welcome an opportunity to explain invitations and event rules. So, to those gents who ask, here's what I send them:
Thanks for asking and good to hear from you.
Social vouching protocol for hobbyists outlined below (because I don't need any of your personal data in case a provider needs a gentle reminder of who you might be). There's a separate process by which providers are vouched.
-- Please ask at least two established providers to send me vouches for sessions from within the past 90 days or so.
-- What they need to tell me is: 1) you are an active hobbyist (meaning they saw you within the past 90 days or so) who respected their rules and 2) they feel you will respect the event rules (see link in my signature)
I'll let you know soon as I receive their vouches.
Just so you fully know the event rules. They mandate that
-- there is no hobby talk at any event
-- no data from any event may be shared with persons who were not present at that event
-- that those who join the invite list commit to hobbying at least every other month or so (and getting re-vouched periodically) and commit to attending events every other month or so, as well.
The organizers understand -- and take into account -- that the Real World may interfere with attending (and sessioning) commitments and will take that into account if you tell us.
You may forward this message to the providers if you wish.
ck
As for ck1942's "arrangement," the site's guidelines (see #30) are pretty clear, and I self-report event announcements.
You suggested If it were my event, all registered members, both provider AND hobbyists, with 4 confirmed reviews would be welcome. No other rules are necessary or fair, IMHO.
That's very unrealistic IMHO, as I know of no way to assure that any reviews posted here or elsewhere are true, and your rules on their face would prohibit well vouched (in my book) UTR males or females, of which no fewer than a couple of dozen have been on the invite lists in 2015-2016 along with several hundred well vouched gents and ladies.

Well well! so you get to decide the rules?
Isn't that like Joe Stanlin's version of Communism, everbody obeys HIS rules?
Are you manipulating the membership to get benefits from providers CK?

Figured you might take that tack.
So, "Mr. Who Hasn't Contributed to the Data Base" since 2011, a very short bit of history.
Back when socials were started in the early 2000's in multiple Texas cities via aspd.net, the hosts/organizers took very large risks in sponsoring events. Attendees also took similar risks. All of that still applies.
The rules were, and still are, decided by the several local hosting committees and exist to protect all involved. It's that simple.
Many events by many organizers in many cities, but since 2002 the San Antonio track record is what it is. San Antonio must be doing something right.
= = = = =
As for taking advantage of providers, my hobby funds well exceed my available playing time.

Here's where I'm coming from.
These events involve personal introductions to other folks in this hobby. This means we are revealing our RW selves to others. Being that mixing the RW and hobby world is risky, I'm pleased to know that all of the folks in attendance are "extremely vetted". It took me a little while to get in myself but I'm OK with all of it.
Peace.
