Anyone been to Players ATX. What was your experience like. Did you go as a couple or by yourself. Please share

Players is couples oriented. We've been a few times and the atmosphere seems to be very "look at me", younger crowd and pretty cliquish. Friends club just closed last week, so that leaves Players as the only game in town...... for now..
Players, from an unbiased point of view, is a clean club. Very "converted warehouse" environment, but well done, for what it is. I'm not sure they even allow single males, but if they do, it's pretty expensive for a single male and the entry nights are few and restricted..
Hopefully a new club will open soon to fill the vacancy of the newly departed Friends Club, but it was pretty (very) dated, and the current , and growing atmosphere in Austin, makes it pretty unlikely anything new is coming anytime soon. There used to be 6 clubs here in Austin, now there's just one... that tells ya something at the change of attitudes here in town.

Friends is reopening in a new location. At least that's what I thought I read...
Players single males have to be vouched for by a couple or a single lady and then it's like $200. Couples are $120 and ladies are $50.
I always have a good time there!

Just the thought of a guy paying $200 just to get into a place and stand around watching couples sounds both desperate and depressing.

That same $200 could get him a sure thing here.

I went all the time back in the day. Pretty good for a burger joint. Shame they finally had to sell out to UT. Never went the last couple years it was open, but definitely had some good times there!

Gonna be a bit tough, now days, to rent a location when the last location was an eviction for non payment. Plus an adult oriented business..
I hope they find a place, but it's doubtful.

Hey Nuglet, I get the impression that private groups have proliferated (meeting in homes or short-term rentals). What's your take on that possible trend, as it affects commercial swinger clubs?

true. and a LOT of hotel parties.. we get invites to at least one a week, sometimes more.We seldom attend due to the number of attendees... normally a group of 3-6 couples, and with that low turnout, there's not much variety, Plus, many already know each other so low attendance means clicks.
Not a lot of room in the normal hotel suite for 8-16 couples...
Went to one recently that there was some guy walking around writing down license plate #'s in the parking lot.. Not sure what he thought he would accomplish. The room was rented, and the attendees were "guests", so it was kinda pointless. That didn't bother us, but freaked some of the attendee's out. We don't care who knows our play habits, but many do.. and neighbors in this town seem to have a hissy fit, when someone is having a good time next door. But you're right, the "private" parties have a lot to do with the demise of the clubs... that and the self-righteous attitudes that seem to be so prevalent in the last few years locally. There's several GB groups that meet at suite hotels too. All in all, it's a shame Austin has come to this.

I was thinking the same thing...

And $50 bucks for a woman to get groped by the same paunchy, large pored, button-down-shirt-and-khaki-pant combo, fat cigar fingered, 50+year old mediocrities you can meet and get at least a meal paid for whilst keeping your panties on at Eddy V's???

I always found it to be a laugh when "couples" would come to my club and the lady was an "escort".. so the guy not only paid the entry fee, for him AND her, plus, ( possibly her fee as well) then, once inside, she was shared as well. Assuming she was having a good time and wanted to play. Never thought about it at the time, but in retrospect... lol
