Me too! I have seen the women get totally drunk at company parties.

This is not all black and white. Much depends on the company, and the party. In many circles, to a large part, the women evaluate the new women.

Read the party and the group for what it is, not what you want it to be. Much may depend on your impression - in certain companies.

But then, if you work for the trash pickup company: it probably doesn't matter.

Kinda like going swimming: it is best to know how deep the water is, before you dive in.

But what if a gal or two are already on your dance card?
That are trusted, have excellent cover stories, etc.

Completely agree! The "time" I was talking about is the investment to reach that state of mutual trust you refer to. Long term friendships are indeed the best.
