Default Linen Bedding ...

I've never used linen sheets but lately, I've been very interested in making my bedding even more comfortable than it already is.

Does anyone have good information on how to pick fine linens? Surprisingly, the internet isn't offering a whole lot of advice on the topic.

I've checked the Urban Outfitter's site and a few others. Also, Ebay and Etsy.com, which has homemade sheets and duvet covers, among other linen items.

With such an investment ahead of me, I'd like to know more about how to pick out the nicest but also, consider costs as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, a final question. I already use nice cotton sheets and good pillows, etc., but am trying to make sure that my bedding is just the most comfortable that will also, hopefully, enable better sleep.

Final question: Are linen sheets REALLY worth the cost? Or is it just hype?

Thanks for your time,
Elisabeth

Yes good linens make a difference. But you have to be careful of the hype. This is from Overstock and a good explanation. http://www.overstock.com/guides/egyp...-sateen-sheets

Higher thread counts does not mean better sheets. Always go with something in the mid-range.

The link discusses cotton sheets. Linen is made of flax.

I never thought about linen vs. cotton bedding. One more choice in my life that I could do without.

I know from personal use that linen shirts can be more cool than all cotton. "Linens" bedding way back when were more prevalent and wore out less from use than cotton, again back when.

Thinking I am that perhaps you might search some of the upper class hotels that resell their bedding and see what might be what.

imo, all cotton, thread count in excess of 300 or more is probably the most comfy you can get, and anything in the 500-600 range is just a bit more expensive.

Critical to whatever type of cloth is the ultimate care you take, meaning gentle wash, gentle soaps/detergents/softeners and maybe the gentle drying and ironing, too.

You can easily google "reviews of xxx linens/cottons" by thread count and brand.

imo, if your boudoir is comfy cozy cossetting, it will be soft, smooth, smell nicely and respond to the activities and actors touching the various surfaces.

Great question, btw.

For big discounts on linens, check out stores called '' Tuesday Morning".
Most linens 50% off....or more.

Go to a nicer higher end stores and caress bedding without looking at the material used or thread count. When you find the feel you're looking for check the specs and explore those. You could by at the store or online.

From a marketing perspective, add them to your wishlist. Place an add to to let one of regulars or someone you would schedule with buy them on your wishlist the will get the first opportunity to enjoy them with you. Not sure about your business model and other incentive could be you offer some credit to the session for this.

It's a great place to be an independent business owner.
