But I don't think that the reason we have so many gun homicides in this country is due to the U.S. being a melting pot. Who commits crime in this country? The poor and uneducated for the most part. Raise the education level of people and raise their income and crime will go down. Easier said than done.
I don't think there is any correlation at all between guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens and the crime rate. The U.S. leads all countries, by far, in # of guns per capita, and ranks very high in homicides per capita. Home invasions? Austin is something like the 10th largest city in the U.S. and I can't remember the last time I read about a home invasion. How many home invasions have there been where you live? Yes, home invasions do happen and if you are really worried about being a victim of a home invasion, you should definitely have a gun for peace of mind. But it is simply not something I worry about.

The ratio of guns to gun homicides in the U.S. is statistically one of the lowest in the world, speedy; thus, establishing that the mere presence of guns isn't the primary determiner of homicides in this country.

You continue to show your ignorance. I don't live in Chicago (although I have several friends that do and they live very safe lives). I don't live in Detroit. Very few of the 300+ million people in the U.S. do. The average town/city in the U.S. is very safe with home invasions minimal to non-existent. But wherever you live, if you feel unsafe in your home without a gun, get one or more.
Stick to predicting football games where you show at least a minimum level of competency.

The only reason the ratio of guns to gun homicides is low is because we have so many guns in the U.S. which throws the statistics out of whack. We have BY FAR more guns per capita than any other country in the world.
Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-u-s-...her-countries/
"Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries, a new study finds.
Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States' gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. And, even though the United States' suicide rate is similar to other countries, the nation's gun-related suicide rate is eight times higher than other high-income countries, researchers said.
The study was published online Feb. 1 in The American Journal of Medicine.
"Overall, our results show that the U.S., which has the most firearms per capita in the world, suffers disproportionately from firearms compared with other high-income countries," said study author Erin Grinshteyn, an assistant professor at the School of Community Health Science at the University of Nevada-Reno. "These results are consistent with the hypothesis that our firearms are killing us rather than protecting us," she said in a journal news release."
If you continue to want to compare the U.S. to countries like Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Swaziland, Guatemala, and El Salvador and say "Look at the homicide rates in those countries which are much higher than the homicide rate in the U.S.", it will simply show that your ignorance.
However, I do agree with your statement that the mere presence of guns in the U.S. has little correlation to the number of homicides. And I don't think arming MORE people will increase or decrease the number of homicides significantly.

The only thing it "throws out of wack" is your fantasy argument that guns are the source of the problem, speedy. And your CBS article is dishonest and bogus, because a lib-retard like you cherry picked a subset of a subset of nations to stilt the numbers in the direction of the lib-retard wanted.

You are so stupid it actually hurts to read your responses.
As I said, the U.S. shares no absolutely no commonality with the countries I mentioned, all of which do have higher homicide rates than the U.S. If you want to point out that Honduras has a higher homicide rate than the U.S., continue to do so. The U.S. is NOT Honduras. This has nothing to do with being Liberal or Conservative. It is common sense. Which you do not have. And any article that disagrees with your POV is "bogus".
It is obvious that you didn't even take the time to read what I wrote and try to understand it. Please re-read this:
"However, I do agree with your statement that the mere presence of guns in the U.S. has little correlation to the number of homicides. And I don't think arming MORE people will increase or decrease the number of homicides significantly. "
Now please tell me how I have a fantasy that guns are the source of the problem. The statement I made clearly states otherwise. Idiot.

You say you recognize that your cited sources base their studies on irrelevant, cherry-picked data, but you trot them out anyway: that's stupidity, speedy. You say you don't fantasize that guns are the source of the problem, but you're behind every attempt to ban or regulate guns, speedy, and that's stupid.

Gun death rates in the U.S. compared to other western democracies
(Firearm-related death rate per 100,000 population per year)
United States 10.54 (2014)
United Kingdom 0.23 (2011)
France 2.83 (2012)
Spain 0.62 (mixed years)
of course the main differences being the liberal gun laws in the U.S. and the stricter gun laws of UK, France and Spain.

You're another lib-retard with the cherry-picked comparisons, suckclown. The U.S. falls on the low side of the median in homicide rates, suckclown; so, shove your cherry picked data where the sun doesn't shine, suckclown:

You call it stupidity. I call it common sense. And once again I challenge you to find ANY post I've made in which I've even come close to suggesting that guns should be banned.

Some day you'll come to the realization, as I did, that debating any issue with IB is a losing battle. I wish he would put me on "Ignore" as LexusLoser did (although he still responds to my posts through a 3rd party. What a pussy.)
