Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway is an NBC made-for-television movie. It premiered on September 27, 1976. The movie is about a 15-year-old girl named Dawn Wetherby (Eve Plumb) who runs away from home to Hollywood, California and becomes a prostitute to support herself. Dawn finds herself taken under the wing of a tough-talking pimp named Swan. The film's soundtrack features the song "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways.

Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn (CLASSIC gay TV movie)

Classic gay made-for-TV movie from the 70's. This is the sequel to Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976), starring Eve Plumb of The Brady Bunch. Now a year later, this story follows Dawn's boyfriend, Alexander, a sensitive Oklahoma farmboy who is trying to survive in Los Angeles as a male prostitute. The movie is not as trashy as it sounds and features a remarkably progressive portrayal of gay life for the 70's. For example, it has the first scenes of a LGBT Community Center and gay teen support group ever on US TV (that I'm aware of). And you get a sense that Alexander was bisexual and truly in love with his male benefactor. Pretty daring for a TV movie in 1976!
And of course, it starred heartthrob Leigh McCloskey, who later made it big on the prime time soap, Dallas.
