It's sad that Presidents have to choose justices based on their ability to get past a partisan Congress, rather than their intelligence and judicial acumen. I'm not saying that Kelly is a lightweight or unqualified, I just don't like the strategy behind her possible nomination.

I don't think they should serve for life. The life expectancy was a lot less back when the Constitution was written. I think 70 or 75 at the max is long enough.

That would be a nice compromise. Many other people are forced to retire even before that. Exxon cuts people off at 65.
