What a shitty basketball town this is. Went last night to the Big 12 opener. Bottom half, half filled and upper half 5% filled. New Coach and exciting basketball. Saying that Barnes I believe would of had more wins to this point than Smart. But it's how you finish the year in basketball.

This has never really been a true basketball town. Fair weather fans for the most part. Only time the place is packed is when Kansas or another highly ranked team come to town. And who gets the prime seats? Those with fat wallets. Compare that to the arenas of Kansas and Duke for example where students are almost on the court.

With all the empty seats up top they should be shipping in school teams, poor kids, students whatever to fill the place.

Headed to the Iowa state game tonight. Smart getting frustrated with this bunch. I get the vibe that Taylor is a locker room problem. He constantly locked horns with Barnes and Smart said some stuff lately that point to him. We better shoot better than the 15-20% we have been from 3 point line tonight. When you throw up bricks from there you don't get fouls.

Without Ridley there is no true inside scoring threat on the team. I'm a Syracuse fan and they have the same problem. If they hit from outside they'll be in the game. If not, game over. Texas is potentially a very good team, as they showed against N.C.

In keeping the sports blog up: went to the Iowa st game and we won in OT. We shot out our ass. We couldn't of played any better. Iowa St. left Austin wondering how in the hell they lost shooting over 50% and outrebounding TX. They have that one player Niang that is unstoppable and he scored about 30 on us. Great win as somehow this team beats NC and Iowa St but looses to TCU. We shot close to 50% from the 3 point line. Speedracer was correct. This team will have to live or die from the outside.

I was at Texas vs OK State which we barely won. The football recruits were there a couple of sections from me. They looked like entitled little punks. Hoodies up with ear buds in. Refused to stand during "eyes of Texas." Some handler finally got them to pay attention. They left at half and didn't come back. UGGHHH!!! Teenagers from the hood.

If Texas keep knocking off these Top 20 teams, I wouldn't be surprised if Shaka Smart end up being Big 12 Coach of the year.

Really nice win in Whacko last night. Tough environment yet the Horns stayed cool the entire second half and brought the W home.
Hey....Shaka gets my Coach of the Year vote for taking a bench-spare like Prince Ibeh and turning him into a force teams now have to take seriously (especially when driving the paint). Not sure how long it'll take to get Ridley back to form when he's cleared to play again but you've got to like the way Ibeh's holding down the fort.

Ibeh has 19 Blocks in the last four games. He's definitely holding down the fort. Texas has 9 games left and 6 of them are against teams ranked in the Top 15 now. I read somewhere that Texas has the third toughest schedule in the country.

I thought Ibeh would flourish in this system but had a painfully slow start. Ridley was the one to wake up. Good to see Roach the last couple of games come thru. We need consistant play from those 3 freshman. The key (or a major one) last night was Holland shutting down that Prince buy (with dregs) the last 10 min. It's sad how Holland has been kind of lost this year. He was Barnes favorite. Great defensive player.

We had the game last night at OK. Why wouldn't Smart put Holland in to guard Heild? Holland has really slipped down the depth chart. Yancy got jukked bad and Heild hit an open step back 3 to win the game.

But in all seriousness, be patient. A lot of the players that are leaving didn't fit Shaka's system. I'm really excited about our incoming freshmen. Just wait for the 2017 tournament.
