Damn - sounds like someone in the oil business just reneged on a contract for a big house, all your lots just dropped in value, and that multi-million dollar spec home you built (without interim financing?) is going to be sitting there for awhile.

Nope...I've sat on the sidelines for two years very liquid waiting for opportunities. Next couple of years may provide it.

Smart as you are ExNyer, and I put you ahead of everyone but LL, your problem is that you are an engineer - smarter than almost everyone else, but no great grasp of emotions - yours or anyone else's.
Markets are not rational in the short term and that is hard for an engineer to deal with unless they take the long term view.

Looks like I made the correct call!! Oil is up 50% since I suggested to you boys to start buying oil stocks back in January with this exact post - no faking it!!

You certainly did make a good call, and it appears that you are a keen enough observer of markets to understand the extent to which they tend to overreact on the downside, and that you possess the courage to capitalize on panic and irrationality. I bailed near the end of the market drop in January. I did buy oil twice around this years trough and still in it. For the most part, I'm still on the sidelines in cash.

But this whole thing depends on Janet Yellen and the Fed continuing to pump money into the economy. Walmart had its first quarter where it didn't increase revenue. GOOG missed expectations and so did AAPL. To me its amazing how some stocks miss earnings, reduce divvies and their stock pops as if those things are "good news."

As soon as JYell gets the balls to increase interest rates, the market will tank again. Not likely to happen until the coronation.
