If you're perfectly OK with it then your family should be respecting who you are which includes your dangerous profession not the other way around.
That sounds Exactly like justification to me.
There is a huge difference between coming out to your family and friends as a provider who is proud of what she does and conducting a "How to" class on providing.

By the way, I'm sure many of the workers in these professions don't openly share many of the details on their dangerous work with loved ones, either. For the same reason. It's one and the same.

I've had very dangerous jobs in the past and I would never go into detail about or even tell loved ones about work place hazards, accidents or deaths. Just because I didn't want them to worry.
They knew what I did, but I downplayed the hazards to a minimum.

I'm sure your statement is accurate about many of these workers however it is Not one and the same because they still don't hide their professions. They merely downplay the dangers they encounter.
Granted everyone's situation is different so yours may be unique which is for no one else to debate. I fully respect that although I've read nothing which would sway my original opinion. It can be swayed. It just hasn't been.

I agree. Dez you understandably downplayed the hazards of your profession out of concern for others but you didn't hide your profession.
Hiding one's profession and not going into the graphic detail of dangerous situations are two completely different topics.
What are situations where one who is proud of what they do might still need to hide their profession from family and friends?
Hmm. Hired government assassin - spy - undercover cop - The Grimm Reaper.

b) Since when is it a good idea to tell your potential customer base that you are an alcoholic presently on the wagon? Yes, right, good point. If I was telling my potential client base that I was an alcoholic presently on the wagon...oh, wait, I am not doing that.
I state, in my ads, that I do not drink. Many clients ask why, as some like to bring a bottle of wine, and I am not ashamed to tell them why I don't drink. I have received many PM's from others sharing their support and their own stories.
I get telling your closest friends for support reasons but why would you advertise this on a fuck board?
Actually, I mentioned this in another post - or, perhaps it was a year ago, in this same post?
Why would I mention it on a fuck board?
Hmmmm...to garner attention?
Nahhhhh...Believe it or not, my ego is sufficiently secure w/o 'eccie accolades'.
Quick story and then I will tell you why: When I drank, I wasn't the 'dance on the bar', pass out in the alley, wake up on someone's couch, kind of drinker.
I drank, off and on, since the age of 18 and had no issues until the past three years.
Mind you, I was what I call a 'White Wine-a-holic'. I was the woman you would see w/ her friends - all drinking white wine -all attractive and nicely dressed, buzzed but, not 'drunk'. It was a balancing act of 'holding it together' and convincing myself I wasn't like 'other people' who hung out at skanky bars or got sick when they drank and so on. I was somehow 'different' and better than all that.
BTW, this is now the largest segment of alcoholics in our society - the middle age 'wine drinking' women.
A few years ago, my body did a 180 and reacted as though I had an allergic reaction after every drink. Last November 5, I realized I REALLY needed to stop drinking. Done.
The day after that, I was almost hit by a drunk driver and ended up bracing his head and neck, for 45 min, after he was pulled from his car. He was so jacked up, he didn't know he had hit another car or that his car was on fire. **He also didn't realize that he had gotten in his car wearing only black boots, black panty hose, pink bikini panties, and a black sweater...and the remnants of pink lipstick. So, the take away from THAT is at least put your pants on before getting in the car**
That was God getting my attention. I decided to listen that time.
Thanks for reading.
Now, why would I talk about the fact that I was powerless over alcohol, on eccie?
Why would I risk my *GASP* reputation?
Well, people get all hyped up about the importance of 'honesty' - which, personally, I think is BS. The quality that I strive for is being 'authentic'. Being authentic means being willing to be vulnerable and getting your ego out of the way. Sincerity before reputation.
I have learned that I NEVER know who might be inspired by something I say or do. None of us do. I call it 'planting seeds'. I can't decide how my story (this is just one small part of it) will impact others. My responsibility is to just put it out there and if it touches one person and makes a difference, then so be it.
I can imagine there being just a few people who struggle w/ similar issues, on this board. If they know they can reach out to me, for help, or need encouragement - all the better.
If YOU choose to make it sound slanderous and shameful - that is YOUR issue, not mine.
This is like a monger publicly announcing "Ever since anger management counseling I haven't hit one single woman".

It doesn't surprise me AT ALL that you would use this as a comparison. It shows your complete lack of understanding and cluelessness. Apples and oranges.
Your skill at armchair psychoanalysis is weak at best (after reading your previous posts) and boorish as always.

I still imbibe, from time to time. Never had to deal myself but did deal with others' on a personal basis.
Many very good people suffer alcoholism AND OTHER ADDICTIONS. Addictions are not easily conquered with anti-drugs, therapy or will power.
But I totally support those who attempt recovery and certainly those who are in recovery, which, btw, to me is a lifelong process.
Such a pity that those who cannot understand the issues nor sympathize or empathize whith the human beings who suffer, show their lacks in public. But it helps determine their credibility or lack of it.
