There's a huge difference between skilled and unskilled labor, and the prices they demand.

There's also a huge difference between skilled labor and talented labor.

Talented people, and by that I mean people with a unique talent, are always going to command more.

This applies to the world of hooking as well as anywhere else.

If you're a talented hook, you're going to make a bundle, all the while expending either minimal effort, or perhaps better said, no more effort than you care to expend at any giving time.

What's harder work, cleaning cages at a zoo, or playing major league baseball? Whichever it is, you can rest assured that the respective wage scales are by no means proportionate to the amount of effort demanded to do either one satisfactorily.

If you're a great looking hooker, you don't have to work as hard as a below-average looking hooker, for equal money.

All bullshit aside I barely care about the price. I have never once encountered a hooker whose prices were prohibitive. Ever.

I have encountered many hookers that I would not touch with a hazmat costume on, regardless of price or any other consideration.

The quality of the experience is the only thing that factors into my hook-rental decision making process.

If it's likely to be an awesome experience, I doubt the hook is going to price herself out of consideration.

What I prefer doing is reserving an hour or a two hour appointment and if things are the way I like them, I'll offer a proportionate rate for an extended period of time. If the hook has something else lined up immediately afterward, it's my loss.

I have had hooks accuse me of being a bad person for this but I find it maximizes the hooking experience for all concerned.

Also, and just to add to that, it is of course obvious that whatever the paying customer does for a living, and what he gets paid to do it, is going to outrageously skew the perspective.

Say the hook charges $300 an hour, and $1500 for an overnight. Is that "a lot"?

I bet for some it is, and I would further assume that these folks are the ones negotiating price. No?

Thanks Alyssa for the clarification. I am not fond of ala carte pricing either. But the reality is so many practice it whether stated that way in their showcase or not. So many providers play the upgrade game that one some part of you is always expecting it the first time we meet someone. And where the upgrade game is played the downgrade game is going to be in play as well.

If you never play that game then I personally would be much more likely to want to see you. I hate any negotiations that occur during an encounter.

So if I understand you right I think we are on the same page.
