For every girl that has truly been abused, I have met 4 others that pretend to be abused to get attention, or to justify their excessively ridiculous behavior, or to explain why they haven't done anything with their lives, or any combination of the above. The ones I have met that have been abused are not that willing to talk about it. The ones using it as a crutch typically wear it on their sleeve, or it's so close to the surface that it makes the bodies buried in my backyard jealous.

In case you don't know it, IQ has very little to do with success in live. Success has to do with setting goals. Some people have goals, and some people don't. Those goals may be very different for different people, and money does not measure success in life. The most successful people I know are those whose life goals have been to be a caring wife and mother.

We all need love and acceptance. Abusing another person may give one, such as you, a feeling of power, but it can never be a measure of a successful life.

I have seen very religious people who are only concerned with the power they have over other people: change churches. I have seen military officers who were only concerned with the power they had over others; and people wonder why there was a high degree of fragging in Nam. (To kill or wound someone, esp a detested officer of one's own unit, typically by throwing a fragmentation grenade at him.)
