Default Providers - regular std checks?

Question primarily for providers but also interested in other hobbyist perspectives.
Providers, do you get regular std checks regardless of whether you see/suspect symptoms?

Reviews indicate quite a lot of BBBJ and DATY so I wonder how often either providers or hobbyists are catching an std. Would you speak up if you did or would that ruin your online image?

Does anyone use dental dams for DATY?

For anyone with a SO, how have you rationalized continuing the hobby given the risk of transferring something to your SO? Hobbyists with a sick SO or other reason for not having sex with your SO, no need to justify your actions.
No judgements here, just trying to gather consensus to find where I fit in.

thanks

I always wonder if the person asking the question really understands the purpose of STD checking and the importance of it.

First, a negative result only means that, at the time of testing, they could not detect anything. Some diseases stay dormant and you can still transmit them even if they were not positive at the time of testing.

Second, a negative test is only good if the person tested remains completely abstinent or stays monogamous with a tested partner. After having sex, even oral, with an untested partner the person could easily have caught something and the negative result means nothing.

Third, we get tested not so we can do things unprotected, but just to start treating something if positive.

With that said, I get tested every 3 months, have never tested positive for anything my entire life and, I don't ever see anyone if I even have the slightest symptom of not feeling well. If I wake up with a sore throat, or not feeling well, I cancel my day.

Hobbying is a risky hobby, if you are married you should get tested on a regular basses
$100 a pop, you don't want to give something to an unwilling participant. Play safe in all the areas of outside play you do, it helps to keep our hobby safe.

As Camille stated Stds can often be dormant at the time of testing. This makes hobbying a calculated gamble one is clearly willing to take with his spouse's health/life with or without testing.

If you have regular sex with your SO then you will have already fully exposed her to hobby health risks long before testing catches anything.

If testing appeases guilt then great but don't pretend it's watching out for her well being.

The only way testing can be mostly effective at protecting her is if you first quit the hobby for good and then test, abstain from any unprotected sex with your SO for 6 months and then test again before having it. Good luck explaining that to the SO.

Testing today may help protect your future RW partner 6 months down the line after you've quit the hobby.
It ain't doing squat for the one you are already having regular unprotected sex with.

There is nothing safe about safe sex in the hobby. It is a 100% selfish practice. Protection merely improves your odds but if you are actively having BBBJ, Daty, DFK and genital area skin contact then it's only a matter of time.

Wishful justification never outweighs basic common sense.

Happy hobbying.

I do quarterly, if I were a provider I'd probably do monthly.

As stated above, STD tests cannot prove anyone is clean. They let you know when (and which) treatment is required. They also let you know when you've caught one of the keepers.

An STD test can prove you're infectious.

It cannot prove you're not infectious.

My doctor recently surprised me when he said they don't include HSV-1/2 in their routine battery of STD tests unless the patient has an active outbreak. He went on to say MANY people have it who don't know they have it because they never had or were unaware of their first outbreak.

When I ask why they don't always test for it so more people would know, he replied because it simply would not change people's behavior: they're still going to have sex, unless an outbreak is apparent, and depending on the site of infection, a condom isn't going to stop transmission.

Recent understanding of HSV says transmission is still possible even without an outbreak as asymptomatic viral shedding can occur:

http://www.webmd.com/genital-herpes/...-silent-spread

Ditto for HPV. Most variants are totally undetectable until visible side-effect show up (those being warts or cancer).

RBJ Clinic on Waller... $20 bucks. I get tested every 90 days. Everyone should know about this place, imo. It's clean, cheap & discrete.

Scarlett,

Has RBJ come out of the dark ages? I went there once, maybe 1996, and they violently shoved a barbed hook into the tip of my wee wee.

... okay, it was just a swab but it felt like a barbed hook. Also, her bedside manner was atrocious. She acted like I was festering with disease and admonished me for getting my girlfriend sick when WE were both there because SHE was presenting some concerning sores down there.

... and she really did just grab the tip of JuniorNonsense and jab that swab into me.

Do they ALWAYS test for everything? When we were there, fortunately everything came back all clear but I later learned they didn't test me for HSV because I wasn't presenting symptoms.

My doctor office does blood and urine analysis, but if I don't ask them, or explain why I feel I'm at risk, they don't test for everything. Also, my annual deductible means I'm essentially paying the entire bill.

There are other testing centers in town that charge $250 for an 8 test panel ... all tests, no questions asked. That's a lot for many people to cough up, if even for piece of mind.

Well, except they can only check for the testable STD's. They don't test for HPV. They don't test for the slew of other skin infections you can get that aren't considered STD's.

I had reservations about the place the first time I went. I am in the health care field, when I'm not doing this, so professionalism, bedside manner and cleanliness are things I notice right away.

Every time I go they are fast & efficient/professional. The blood draws don't hurt and everything is clean/tidy.

I know they do the rapid HIV test, gonorreaha/chlamydia, sphyillis. You have to ask for anything else like yeast or UTI's I believe. I don't know if they test for herpes. I think most places only test if you present with symptoms, but I could be wrong.

At any rate, for 20 bucks, I think it's an awesome deal.

" Providers, do you get regular std checks regardless of whether you see/suspect symptoms? "
\
DO YOU REALIZE THAT WE ARE WORKING HERE ,,, SO ,,, IT IS NOT IN ANYONE S BEST INTEREST TO OPENLY ADVERTISE THEIR CONTAGIOUS HEALTH ISSUE S ? ?? WHAT PROVIDER IS HONESTLY GONNA BE LIKE " YES I HAVE STD S" WITH HER ESCORT HANDLE ON ECCIE (( HER WORK SPACE )) ? ? ? PERSONALLY ,,, I NEVER ASK PEOPLE IF THEY HAVE STD S BECAUSE I PREFER REALISTIC DATA AND OR MANY YEARS OF MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES ;;; OVER THE CLOSETED FANTASIES OF PEOPLE I FUCK !!! I JUST RECOGNIZE THAT " DO YOU HAVE STD S ? ? ? " IS A QUESTION THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT SITUATED MOTIVATED TO ANSWER HONESTLY !!! MAYBE THEY HAVE ANXIETY OVER THEIR DIAGNOSIS ... MAYBE THEY ARE SO HORNY THAT THEY WILL MASK THEIR STATUS SO STD NEGATIVE PEOPLE WILL STILL FUCK THEM ... MAYBE YOU SEEM LIKE A BIG MOUTH WHO CAN T KEEP A SECRET .... MAYBE THE STD POSITIVE PERSON THINKS YOU ARE NOSY + AND + IN THEIR BUSINESS ...MAYBE THE PERSON MASKING THEIR STD STATUS HAS FLAWED EDUCATION ABOUT STD S IN GENERAL + AND + THAT PERSON DID NOT SEE THEIR STD SYMPYTS .... THERE ARE SOOO MANY OTHER REASONS PEOPLE WANT TO MASK THEIR STD 'S ... SO .... WHY DO PEOPLE THINK ASKING PEOPLE TO DISCLOSE THEIR STATUS ; IS A WAY TO PROTECT YOUR HEALTH ? ? ? I MEAN ... WHEN YOU ASK FOR STD STATIS + AND + THE PERSON SAYS " NO " ,,, DO YOU JUST BLIHNDLY BELIEVE THEM ? ? ? I AM NOT LIKE THAT + AND + I NEVER ASK FOR STD STATUS BECUASE I KNOW THIS WHOLE BATCH OF ANSWERS IS GONNA HAVE SOME LIES AND IGNORANCE !!!

THE OTHER THING MAKES THE STD STATS CONVO POINTLESS AND UNRELIABLE IS THAT MOST ADULT WHO HAVE BEEN FUCKING FOR AWHILE ,,, HAVE DIFFERENT HEALTH HISTORY RISK FACTORS ... OKAY .,, LET S TAKE ME FOR EXAMPLE ... I HAVE NEVER HAD BAREBACK SEX EVER (( NOT EVEN IN MY PRIVATE LIFE )) ..., SOUJNDS HEALTHY RIGHT ? ? ? ... BUT ... THEN THERE IS THE FACT THAT I FUCKED OVER 1OOO GUYS AS A PROVIDER !!! NOW YOU RE SCARED BECAUSE IT S A RISK THAT YOU NEVER TOOK !!! THERE ARE SO MANY EVENTS THAT IMPACT YOUR SEXUAL HEALTH ... I MEAN ,,, MY HISTORY IS COMPLEX ,,, BUT ,,, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ? ? ? TRY TO JUDGE ME AS HIGH RISK ,,, WHEN YOU + AND + I HAVE WILDLY DIFFERENT LIFE PATH CHOICES ? ? ? THEN ,,, ASK ME IF I HAVD STD S + AND + BLINDLY ACCEPT MY ANSWER AS REAL ? ? ? I

THIS IS NOT AN EFFECTIVE FORM OF HEALTH SCREENING !!!

I USED TO TEST FOR EVERY STD (( EVEN THE HERPES BLOOD TEST )) LIKE WHEN I WAS NEW !!! I WAS SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY ON SOME OF TESTS + AND + IWAS THE SAME LEVEL OF HEALTH WHN I WENT TO RE TEST ... AFTER AWHILE ,,,, I SWITCHED OVER TO " LOOKING FOR SYMPTOMS " ... I GOT TESTED FOR HIV WHEN I WAS AT THE HOSPITAL FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE ..

I DO NOT HAVE AN ALARMIST ANXIOUS ATTITUDE ABOUT MY HEALTH !!! SPEAKING OF ALARMIST ATTITUDES ;;; IT DOES ANNOY ME WHEN PEOPE COME INTO THE ESCORT COMMUNITY + AND + ALL THEY WANNA DO IS BLAME THE ESCORT COMMUNITHY FOR STD S !!! THIS MAKES ME FEEL LIKE THE STD PANIC IS ROOTED IN AMERICAN SEXUAL PRUDISHNESS !!! I MEAN ,,, YOU CAME IN HERE ,,, ACCUSING US OF SPREADING STD S ,,, LIKE YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY HUNG UP ON SEXUAL EVIL NESS AMONG ESCORTS !!! + AND + YOU ARE NOT A NICE CONCERNED PERSON WHO WANTS TO BETTER THE HUMAN CONDITION BECAUSE YOU ARE PUTTING STD S UPFRONT AS WHAT YOU VIEW AS THE MAJOR PROBLEM ,,, BUT ,,, YOU ARE NOT ACKNOWLEDING THAT THERE ARE ALSO DISEASES SPREAD THROUGH SOCIAL MEEEING TOO + AND + YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT MENINGITIS IS SPREAD THROUGH KISSING !!! YEP ,,, STD S ARE NOT THE ONLY ILLNESSES OUT THERE ... WHOLESOME VIRGINS CAN PASS GERMS ON TOO !!!

Reviews indicate quite a lot of BBBJ and DATY so I wonder how often either providers or hobbyists are catching an std. Would you speak up if you did or would that ruin your online image?

thanks

THE OTHER THING ABOUT SAYING " STD " IS THAT YOU ARE REFERRING TO A BUNCH OF REALLY VARIED ILLNESSES THAT GO FROM " CAUSES DEATH " TO " CUREABLE WITH PENACILLIN " .... BUT YOU ARE JUST ASKING SWEEPING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STD UMBRELLLA WHICH INCLUDES BOTH HIV + AND + NOT A BIG DEAL * CRABS * !!!

TAK does make one valid point.

Asking how often providers get tested on a hooker board is like asking a used car salesman how often the cars on the lot receive full maintenance checkups before being sold.

Listen, if the provider doesn't call you complaining of vaginal itching or mouth sores than you're good!!
